Default Aretha Franklin not feeling the R-E-S-P-E-C-T at Grammys

When Beyoncé and Tina Turner hit the Grammy stage for their high-octane duet, most folks were left in awe. But the woman known as the "Queen of Soul" was left a bit dismayed after Beyoncé introduced Turner as "the queen."

An offended Aretha Franklin says in a statement, "I am not sure of whose toes I may have stepped on or whose ego I may have bruised between the Grammy writers and Beyoncé, however I dismissed it as a cheap shot for controversy. In addition to that, I thank the Grammys and the voting academy for my 20th Grammy and love to Beyoncé anyway."

There was no immediate comment from Beyoncé or the Recording Academy.

Umm.. Beyonce dueted with Tina and NOT Aretha, correct? If I'm wrong and she duetted with both and only showed favor to Tina, I can see how it would piss Aretha off... but I think Aretha's got some bitter jealous fatness going on if she's expecting people to refer to her, and only her, as music royalty.

    Mhmm. I think the same.

And as for Arethas comments inferring that the comment was made due to a bruised ego, the only over-inflated-ego I see is Arethas.

Why is it never enough for some people? I adore Aretha and all, but sheesh.

If Aretha is so insecure that she needs reassurance from the likes of Beyonce Knowles, she deserves to be offended.

    And Tina is the Queen.

Sister Ree is 'The Queen of Soul' but Mz. Tina is 'The Queen of Rock n Roll' - so Beyonce was not insulting Aretha when she referred to Tina

I am really surprised that she would actually share her disappointment about this. I would think she had more class. If it were me, I would have publicly pretented that I hadn't noticed. Then I would have cursed Beyonce up on side and down the other and stuck pins in my Beyonce voodoo doll in the privacy of my own home, where all proper forms of anger, disappointment and revenge should take place.

My my, didn't we all just dip our tongues in some acid today.

Aretha needs to put the turkey leg down and get a clue. She IS the Queen of Soul, but not 'the queen of ALL music.' And there are other famous singers who deserve the same level of respect that she wants. And Tina is definitely one of them.
