Confirmed: Jennifer Lopez expecting twins

The rumors are true, confirmed by no less a source than her father: Jennifer Lopez is expecting twins.

And it isn't even a Lopez family first.

"Yes, twins," her dad David Lopez said in an interview on the Spanish-language show Escándalo TV, PEOPLE en Español reports. "The thing is in my family, my sister also had twins, so it's a hereditary thing."

For David Lopez, the news means double the excitement.

"I'm very proud. Jennifer has yearned to be a mother for many years," he said.

And he already has gifts ready for his 38-year-old daughter's babies.

"In Puerto Rico it's custom to buy an azabache [black stone] bracelet for babies to protect them from the evil eye, it's part of our culture," he said.

As she became noticeably pregnant, J-Lo finally announced last November that she and Marc Anthony were expecting.

JLO went through in-vitro which increases one's odds of twin births. So I highly doubt that genetics come into play here although in general fraternal twins (which I believe she is having) can be hereditary.

i won tix to her concert in san diego. i dont even care for her music, but i arranged to go. she cancelled her show here, citing the 'fires' and chose to finish her concert in miami so that she could announce her pregnancy. i'm over her. i dont wish ill on the babies, just a NORMAL, long, difficult delivery, where 3 epidurals dont work, and the end result is an 11lb baby. like MY delivery. not harsh at all

I'm sure most people had read years ago, even way before she was with Marc, that JLO was getting fertility treatments, but even if she did with this pregnancy she wasn't ever going to ever admit it anyway. The public will never know but she'll say hereditary.

i could have twins too if i were using fertility treatments b/c A) my husband has a deadly communicable disease and B) i've had a reported 8-12 abortions and C) Im a dried up old hag ..... just like JHo!
