Default Rod Stewart's wild son lands him in trouble with the law

Their relationship has always been a rocky affair. Now, the father-and-son bond between Rod Stewart and his offspring Sean is to be tested once again with the news that the rock star has been dragged into a court case involving his eldest son.

The 63-year-old singer has been named as a defendant in a civil action in which Sean stands accused of attacking a clubber in a bar brawl.
In an unusual move, Rod has been named in legal papers because one of his employees, a bodyguard, was allegedly at the scene of the incident. Scroll down for more...

The fight took place outside Hollywood's LAX nightclub two years ago and the alleged victim, Daniel Refoua, claims he was beaten up by a group that included actor Sean, 27.
But the case has taken a new twist after Mr Refoua filed new papers naming Rod as a defendant, as the bodyguard was in his employment.
"Refoua claims Sean's bodyguard was involved in the incident," says a source. "Refoua says his nose was broken."
Friends say the case - a preliminary hearing scheduled for April 11 - is a huge embarrassment for the singer, who has long attempted to rein in his troublesome son.
Sean has been in and out of prison and Rod once paid for him to be treated for alcohol addiction at the Meadows Rehabilitation Centre, although Sean quit after only two days.
In 2002, Sean, Rod's son by his first wife Alana Hamilton, was found slumped on Hollywood's Sunset Boulevard and charged with possessing a controlled substance.
Two years ago, he was jailed for 90 days after attacking a man and last year he was in court again after allegedly attacking a couple.
A spokesman for Rod declined to comment. Sean Stewart's lawyer, Dana Cole, said: "Rod was not there and he had nothing to do with it. But they are claiming the bodyguard was an employee of Rod's. "Naming Rod is an attempt to hype up a frivolous suit. We'll defend it vigorously."
