Default Remember Amy Vining from General Hospital?

Posted Feb 2nd 2008 12:45PM by TMZ Staff
Shell Kepler, who played nurse Amy Vining on "General Hospital" for more than 20 years, died yesterday in Portland, Ore. Paging Dr. Quartermaine!

According to the Medical Examiner's office, Kepler died of renal failure.

After her stint on "General Hospital" ended, Kepler moved to Portland and got involved in charity fundraising.

IMDb says she was 46, the M.E. says she was 49

Oh wow. I can remember she had so much plastic surgery she didn't even look like herself anymore. She was on for most of the 80s and 90s, and she did little guest appearances every now and then at the "nurses desk." How sad.

    If she was either 46 or 49, I'm 21.

The last time i saw her was some years back on HSN selling her clothes designs. I wondered what had happened to her..

Sorry to hear she died so young...

    RIP

Renal failure? Meaning, kidney failure? Wonder if she didn't go for the dialysis.

Awww.. RIP Nurse Vining. I totally remember her perky character behind the desk in General Hospital.

Although I do not know for sure, she probably suffered from polycystic kidney disease which is hereditary and can strike people at a fairly young age. A friend of mine with the disease just underwent a kidney transplant at age 50. Her identical twin sister is about to be put on the kidney transplant list. My friend would have died without the transplant - a coworker was the donor.

I remember her. She morphed into the plastic creature over the years.
