Lindsay Lohan's rocky rehab continues to hurt her bottom line.
A pal of the cash-strapped actress tells us she has been openly asking friends for spending money.
A separate source tell us Ariva - the quit-smoking tobacco lozenge she has been unofficially promoting - paid her a sum in the mid-five figures this week.
Officially, Ariva reps have denied it is paying Lohan - possibly because of all the recent paparazzi pics of her smoking.
Lohan has been back in the headlines for her antics on the Italian island of Capri, where she was honored during the new year holiday at the annual film festival. One Italian journalist told the photo agency X17 that the supposedly sober starlet ran up a 500-euro ($736) bar tab in one evening.
But at least she hasn't been wanting for male company. The U.K. Daily Mail named three men she allegedly made out with over 24 hours, and illustrated the story with a photo of her literally sprawled on top of Italian actor Dario Faiella on a sofa.

Lindsay's recent ex, Riley Giles, sold the story of their relationship to Britain's News of the World on Dec. 23 for a rumored $120,000. That so steamed Dina that she got on the phone to his mom, reports Us Weekly.
"Dina insulted her parenting," says a source.
Ouch!
Father of the year Michael Lohan says both he and Lindsay also chewed out the young man.
"He apologizes," Michael told the magazine.

I think Dina was mad that she didnt think about that before him.
Now he get the money and not her.
I guess thats the first time that its not Dina who made money from LL.
Well she still was abule so some how made even this story to be about her.

She needs to quit paying to live in a hotel and quit shopping every day. I can't fathom how she could blow through so much money. She really needs better advisors. However, I'm sure her friends have leeched off of her for years, so now she asks for them to pay for stuff and it's news... that's pretty shitty IMO.

Dina Lohan: Riley 'Took Desperate Measures to Hurt Lindsay'

Lindsay Lohan's manager-mom Dina Lohan says that her daughter's ex-boyfriend, Riley Giles, purposefully hurt the actress – but denies a recent report that she called his mother to berate her parenting skills.

"I never spoke to Riley's mom, nor would I blame her for his behavior," Dina exclusively tells PEOPLE. "Riley is a grown man."

The report claimed the phone call was made after Giles sold the story of his affair with Lohan to News of the World.

Dina, however, did slam Giles for his tell-all interview with the paper, in which he revealed intimate details of their relationship. "He took desperate measures to hurt Lindsay because she broke up with him," she says.

Lohan, 21, and Giles, 25, who met while seeking treatment at Utah's Cirque Lodge this past summer, split in late November.

I have a couple of suggestions

Her bank accounts were frozen due to her coke (etc) habits & rehab (to get her to be cash poor so she can't buy more)
Her mom has acted as her agent, so maybe she was in charge of the cash... (and spent it)
Bad investments (see above)
Any cash is tided up - or - covering what she spent when she wasn't earning.

BTW - doesn't she already own at least one apartment in LA & recently sold one in LA at a loss/drew even... I believe (but I might be wrong)
