Sir Paul McCartney has undergone heart surgery, it has been revealed.

The 65-year-old musician has been mired in a bitter divorce battle with Heather Mills for the past 18 months.
He complained of feeling unwell in the autumn after a series of stressful rows with Ms Mills, 39, over arrangements for their four-year-old daughter Beatrice and the former model's public tirades against him.

Paul and Heather in furious festive bust-up over Beatrice

Sir Paul had a coronary angioplasty - a procedure that helps unclog arteries - after seeing a Harley Street specialist at the London Clinic, according to reports.
The former Beatle recovered from the surgery quickly because he took regular exercise and had a trim physique, a friend said, adding: "He has always been in exceptional health, which is remarkable when you think of the rock 'n' roll lifestyle he once had."
Sir Paul was well enough to perform a duet with Kylie Minogue in front of millions of viewers at New Year. The pair sang his hit Dance Tonight during Jools Holland's New Year special on BBC2.

Coronary angioplasty is performed by inserting a thin tube into blood vessels in the groin and threading it up to the aorta, where a small balloon at the end of it is then inflated. The balloon squashes fatty deposits blocking the artery, allowing blood to flow more freely.
A short wire-mesh tube called a stent is usually left behind to support that part of the vessel.
Football star David Beckham's father Ted, 59, underwent the same operation after he had a heart attack.
Sir Paul and Ms Mills are still hammering out the terms of their divorce settlement after their fouryear marriage collapsed in 2006.
Next month the High Court will decide how much Ms Mills will receive of his £800 million fortune. Ms Mills could be sued by her former law firm for £2million. Last month Mishcon de Reya was said to be looking at legal action of its own to recover its fees after a preliminary divorce hearing failed to reach a settlement.

Even though they're still legally married I can imagine any way her getting money if he croaks before the divorce, seeing as they've been legally separated for over a year.

The only way Mills could get his dough is through Beatrice if he croaks while the kid is a minor and Mills is the kid's guardian. But even then I bet he's got something in place, like Beatrice doesn't get the money until she's an adult and Stella is in charge until then.

Popbitch has claimed one of the sticklers in the divorce is that Heather asks for stuff "for Beatrice" and Paul says fine, but he insists on putting it in Beatrice's name. Like he'll buy a house for them...but only if he can put in Beatrice's name, not Heather. Or she'll ask for security "for Beatrice" and he says fine, and hires a security firm himself. Meanwhile Heather flips out because she wanted him to give HER the money directly and he's found a way around that. Which I think is awesome, cause it will just prove to a court that her bitching is because she wanted to do something else with the $$$.

Whomever he's left it to in his will.... The first thing that UK divorce lawyers tell you (well, after their hourly cost) is to make a new will because if you don't & died before the decree absolute comes through the ex gets everything as you're still legally married.

When I first read about the US practice of divorcing but sorting out the finances & child stuff later, I was surprised.

Oh - and this is why their divorce is still rumbling on , she won't accept the multi-million pound settlement because he wants her to have a "gag" order too...

I say just get the bitch a ballgag & have done with it....

Hasn't he set up a trust for her? And HM isn't anything to do with it?

I bet his lawyers have done a trust already. I bet dollars to donuts that one of the reasons the divorce is dragging on is because his lawyers are insisting on accounting and not putting anything they don't have to in Heather's name. As it should be because she's already not only lied so much about her past but been investigated by the gov't for her charity (and how she had no records as to where the money went).

I think he became a vegan only recently. He's been a vegetarian for a long, long time though.

A vegetarian diet can be very healthy provided it isn't reliant on a lot of saturated-fatty things, like cheese. That clogs the arteries big time.

He might also have a genetic tendency toward bad circulation. This is something which is prevalent on my father's side of the family ... they're losing feet and legs all over the place. Scary.

Isn't it called heart disease because there is a % of genetics in it?
And I can never work out what cholesterol has to do with all this....

Incidently, they do all kinds of stuff with my mom's pacemaker using similar methods and she's fine very quickly afterwards, so its good to see him up and out on NYE

Heather would be in store for a lion's share of the inheritance, unless other wise stipulated by a will. Even if there is a will, Mills could contest it in court - she seems to like that sort of thing. Since she has Sir Paul's child, she'd be in a fair position to challenge a will. With the promise of Sir Paul's billions at the end of the matter, she could keep her lawyers interested for a long time, as she runs back and forth between meetings and interviews like an important somebody. Meanwhile she get's to keep the title of "Lady".
