    Default Jerry Seinfeld wants you to know he's not hosting the Oscars

    No Joke: Seinfeld Won't Host the Oscars
    Posted Fri. Dec. 28, 2007 4:31pm by Megan Lynn Filed Under Academy Awards, Jerry Seinfeld

    ...So stop asking!
    Like a speaker who greets thunderous applause with a disingenuous "stop, you're too kind, no really", Jerry Seinfeld wants the world to know: he could host the Oscars, he just doesn't want to.
    In British magazine Empire, the 53-year-old comedian reveals that he has turned the Academy down on numerous occasions. Why doesn't he want to host the country's preeminent award show? Because he's afraid he'll do so well they'll keep asking him back.
    "If I hosted the Oscars and I did it really well, they would just ask me to do it again. And then again. And again."

    It's not just the threat of success that has Seinfeld staying away from the Oscar stage. It's those pesky, unfun, nervous nominees in the crowd. He tells Empire, "There's no up-side. I don't know, it's just a weird environment. I'm lucky that I can do things that kind of interest me as a challenge, but everybody there is nervous, you know? They want to win their award. They're not there to have fun. I like to go in front of an audience that wants to have fun.

    He's an ass.......Larry David was the real talent on that show

    I've seen some of Jerry's stand-up act, and he's doing the Oscars, and viewers, a favor by not hosting.

    Dont be so cocky, hosting the Oscars might be your only option (to stay in a positon where people aren't saying 'Jerry Seinfeld who?') one day.

    I dunno ... I watched a few episodes of his other show, Curb Your Enthusiasm, and I didn't think it was very good.

    Seinfeld worked because it had a great solid cast who were terrific together.

    LOL, he needs to get on the internet and read people's opinions of him before he starts shooting his mouth off about how he's so in demand and everyone is just waiting for Lord Jerry Seinfeld to host the Oscars.

    I hope they get Sarah Silverman. She knows how to ruin a classy affair.

    Oscars = crap.

    I think Jerry Seinfeld was the least talented person on his show. He was sort of boring, while the others were kooky and wild. I love Larry David, especially his original sense of dry humor. I don't watch the Oscars anyway, so I don't care who hosts it. I have zero desire to watch celebs win awards they usually don't deserve, and be put on a pedestal for no good reason.

    I agree. Watch UHF and tell me Michael Richards isn't extremely talented. The guy went nuts in his older age, but damn he was funny in his prime.

    So well said.

    No matter what my opinion of Jerry, I still think Seinfeld is a GREAT show.
