Well one was from a blog interview from somewhere..when Sam and Ilan were asked about Padma, they said something like, 'do we have to say something good?' and then were like grudgingly, 'well I guess she is pretty' or some such thing-it was obvious they were dissing her. A couple others have said they did not give her one bit of credit and did not think she should even have a say with the judges. Try Blogging Top Chef or Amuse Biatch, or TWOP forums(they cover Top Chef extensively at TWOP) to find more exact info as I was just kind of paraphrasing.
From what they have said I have gotten the feeling they did not value her opinon too much, or her 'way' with them. Whatever they felt about Gayle or Tom C., at least I think they respected their opinions.

FN Canada airs Top Chef after the Americans have already seen it, so I generally avoid any internet discussions of the show because I don't want to know ahead of time what's happening.
Anyhoo ... I took a wander over to TWOP. Boy, those folks are harsh. Padma = Paris Hilton + 3 IQ points. Ouch.

Here are the negative comments the contestants had:...
Padma Lakshmi, the ex-model married to Salman Rushdie and host of Bravo’s Top Chef, isn’t getting much respect from the show’s contestants, five of whom hail from New York. Asked if he trusted Lakshmi’s culinary taste, Ilan Hall, a line cook at Casa Mono, asked a Bravo flack, “Um, are we allowed to say disparaging things about Padma?” No. “She’s beautiful,” Hall offered. “Mostly, she just explained things, and she did a good job at that.” Cliff Crooks, executive chef at Salute!, said, “Nothing she said really made a difference in my cooking.” Sam Talbot, former executive chef at Punch, said, “Next question.” He also noted that she seemed intent on stepping out of her famous husband’s shadow. “She never wanted to talk about him. I remember a time she got a phone call and she yelled, ‘You can ask me any question you want, but don’t bring up my husband!’” And then there’s the matter of her stomach-baring, kitchen-unfriendly attire. “Some of the things she wore, I wouldn’t suggest anyone wear around a working kitchen,” said Crooks. “Either she’d be a fire hazard or she’d get hurt.” 'Top Chef' Host Roasted by Top Chefs -- New York Magazine

Considering she wasn't cooking and she wasn't working around the stoves, her attire doesn't really matter. That comment was just nitpicky. People who work in kitchens know what is appropriate and what isn't.
