Gwyneth Paltrow on set with Joaquin Phoenix denies marital trouble

Protest too much, my Gwyneth?

Have been mentioning the rumours for months – that Gwyneth and Chris are on the outs, that London gossips have been buzzing about his alleged infidelity though nothing substantive has been put forward and am also told they have in fact been out on a few occasions for dinner at paparazzi-free places in London.

Still…the speculation continues. To the point where Stephen Huvane, her rep, has had to issue a statement assuring that all is well. Almost too well. As in overkill. As in way too much information. Read for yourself:

"(reports of a rift) are absolutely not true. They have been completely together and barely separated. Chris was with her in Los Angeles during the shooting of 'Iron Man,' and then with her in the Hamptons during the summer, and in London for September and October. She's been in New York for the past week, but he is joining him soon in a few days. This stems from the fact that both Chris and Gwyneth make a deliberate effort not to be photographed together. She does not take him to any events where there will be press - or if she does, they enter separately. It is their policy not to put their relationship out there for public consumption."

Completely together and barely separated? With itemised locations and dates too? This below would have sufficed, non?

Gwyneth and Chris are happily married. Their relationship is not for public consumption which is why they are rarely seen together in private.

Period.

So why the wordy, extensive explanation?

Bet its announced right after the holidays or something. Never liked either one of em, but it's too bad since there are kids involved.

It probably rankles her quite a bit that people suspect her marriage isn't idyllic. IMO, if everything was fine, she wouldn't care at all and she wouldn't have had Huvane give that absurd statement.

I feel bad for the kids.

This is the same type of statement that was issued with respect to Kevin Costner's marriage which is still intact, and about Carmen/Dave's marriage, which went kaput. I vote teetering on kaput. Not quite there yet.

probably because she had nothing else to report. After all, a day without Lainey slagging celebrities is like a day without breathing.
