Default Brad Pitt walks out on Helen Mirren movie after script row

Brad Pitt is facing possible legal action after quitting his new film amid script concerns.

Pitt was set to join Dame Helen Mirren, Edward Norton, Robin Wright Penn and Rachel McAdams in a big-screen adaptation of hit BBC series State of Play.

In recent weeks, the heartthrob actor had been in a series of meetings with director Kevin MacDonald over the script, which cannot be worked on at the moment due to the current Hollywood writers strike. Scroll down for more...

Sources say Pitt, 43, was unhappy the movie did not follow his vision and his sudden departure has left the film's schedule in limbo. Filming was set to begin on November 15.

U.S. reports claim Universal Studios are considering their legal options and may even sue the actor.

Hollywood trade paper Variety reports Universal would have the option to sue Pitt if they cannot find a suitable replacement.

Sources claim Johnny Depp or Russell Crowe are in the frame to replace Pitt in the role of political consultant-turned-journalist Cal McCaffrey.

Pitt's exit has led film bosses to fear the other big names attached to the project could follow suit. Scroll down for more...

A statement from Universal reads: "Brad Pitt has left the Universal Pictures production of State of Play. We remain committed to this project and to the filmmakers, cast members, crew and others who are also involved in making the movie. We reserve all rights in this matter."
The BBC series State of Play, which started in 2003, was critically acclaimed and attracted a BAFTA Best Actor win for star Bill Nighy.

Bad call on Brad's part I think.

Dame Helen just oozes "Oscar Nomination"... and saving all the world's orphans ain't gonna get you one of those to put next to Ange's statue!

Ohhh, definately Helen Mirren: she is almost as veiny as Ang, but she looks healthier and more radiant!

Veingalina wishes she was that fierce.

Quite the asshat. Does he realize the film isn't about "his vision"?

I hope he does get sued. That would at least be amusing.
I saw a film today, oh boy.

Figures. He strikes me as a complete diva. "His" vision? Is her the producer, director, or writer? To be honest, I view it as no great loss. He's the big name, but the others are the actual talent. He hasn't been great in a movie in years.

So, he gives up the opportunity to act with Dame Helen Mirren because of his vision? Pfffft...dumb and delusional...

Yeah, right, like Helen Mirren should give two shits if Brad Pitt isn't in the movie. He looks and speaks like he's suffered irreparable brain damage.

They should send him a fruit basket as thanks.

Idiot. Doesn't he know that major movie studios don't accept scripts in comic book format?
