I suppose you have to give some credit to “American Idol” contestant Kellie Pickler for even appearing on “Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader?”… but it only seemed to reinforce her ditzy ways. Let’s just say she’s no rocket scientist, but at least she gave it a shot. How did she do? Well if this video is any indication… maybe she should just stick to singing.

I can't argue that the girl is smart...won't even try. But I saw her perform at the CMA's this year and she was absolutely amazing. She sang her song, I wonder...which was written about her mother who abandoned her when Kellie was just 2 years old. She looked like a stunning/stunned version of Lorrie Morgan. As she sang the song, which was just so emotionally charged, she lost it towards the end and cried as she told her estranged mother that she wouldn't be in Carolina anymore...she has moved to Tennessee. I cried watching her...as did almost everyone around me. She sold us all that night.

Aw c'mon guys, she doesn't have to be a rocket scientist! She just is what she is. I have a soft spot for her (though I'm sick of the media playing up how her mom abandoned her). I happened to catch her on The View as a guest co-host a few months ago, and I thought she did really well.

Who cares if she's not smart? If being a singer/entertainer is her calling then why should anyone expect her to be a rocket scientist? I've seen the clip and she does seem quite dim, but if her music is good then none of that matters.

I've never even heard her music, but it sounds like she's had a very troubled life, so if things are beginning to look up for her then more power to her. If her music is pleasing to others, she's touching peoples' lives and she's finding happiness then that's great.

^Singers and entertainers should be intelligent too. Actors, singers, entertainers---they get a free pass when it comes to intelligence....why? You don't have to be book smart or educated, but you should have a few braincells to rub together. For one thing, it gives you greater longevity. For another, it gives you greater credibility.

She certainly has had a troubled life, and I don't blame her for being pissed off that her mother suddenly comes out of nowhere now that Kellie's makin' it big. I feel bad for her about that.

But about this particular article: Kellie's not remotely intelligent, that much is obvious. She might want to start reading books without pictures in them.
