Hannah Montana fan club faces lawsuit
Membership doesn't always have its privileges. Just ask disappointed kids who paid $29.95 to join the Miley Cyrus Fan Club, which allegedly promised access to concert tickets for the Hannah Montana star's concert tour.
According to a class-action lawsuit filed in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Tennessee against Interactive Media Marketing and Smiley Miley Inc., the companies were aware there wouldn't be enough tickets to go around.
"They deceptively lured thousands of individuals into purchasing memberships into the Miley Cyrus fan club, and that's why we're suing," says attorney Rob Pierce.
A representative for Cyrus said in a statement that more than 70,000 Mileyworld members got tickets through the fan club, but noted: "The Mileyworld Web site expressly states that Mileyworld does not guarantee every member a concert ticket."
"Mileyworld members had far greater access to concert tickets than the general public and other fan clubs and the claim that the vast majority of Mileyworld members were unable to obtain concert tickets is simply false," the statement said. "Mileyworld will vigorously defend itself from the frivolous claims in the lawsuit."
In some cases, fans – or their parents – have paid more than $2,000 to see Cyrus, 14, and her TV alter ego Hannah Montana perform on her sold-out 54-date "Best of Both Worlds Tour," raising questions about scalping law violations and prompting the Arkansas Attorney general to launch an investigation.

As far as I am concerned, anyone who joins this fan club should face some sort of charges for that. Seriously, why can't we make really bad taste illegal?

Any parent who would pay $2,000 for their kid to go see something that stupid is a damn IDIOT.

Miley's voice sounds really weird. Husky.
I agree with Sweetness about the parents buying the pricey tickets. It's called put your foot down and tell your bratty kids that there are limits to how much things should cost!!!

I am embarrassed to say that my children belong to Miley World. There were some serious problem with the website. I had tried to reserve some tickets through their website a couple of weeks before they went on sale. They didn't contact me until after I had already purchased the tickets through another venue.
Regarding Miley Cyrus, she seems like a good kid and my kids really like her. You never know what will happen in Hollywood. Her show is actually pretty funny. I think this is why she is so popular with the preteen age group.

I personally think her music is extremely mediocre and her (over)acting grates on my nerves, but my 8 year old sister loves her. Part of the appeal is definitely her attitude. I've watched the show with my sister plenty of times, and Miley/Hannah is kind of a little smart-ass, which the kids think is hilarious. She's also very "goofy," making big, exaggerated faces (think Raven Symone) and getting into awkward/embarrassing situations.
When she performed at the Houston Rodeo, she set a new record for ticket sales/attendance, which pissed a lot of people off because the Rodeo Conert Series is traditionally about showcasing country artists. When Miley broke that record, it was sort of an indignity and a slap in the face to country superstars like Alan Jackson, George Strait, Brooks and Dunn, and Clay Walker who have been performing there for years.
If they're going to charge people to sign up for this club with the promise of advance ticket purchases, discounts, or other benefits, they need to be delivering on that promise. No excuses. Miley would still be a nobody and Billy Ray a has-been if her fans weren't so generous. They're not the people to start screwing over when she gets big.

Well it's part of the successful transition from child star into tabloid skank. It used to be a Playboy spread.

She sounds like a man when she talks
Fan clubs are often dodgy, it's out of order to treat her fans like that
