Kate Beckinsale hospitalized for exhaustion

British movie star Kate Beckinsale was hospitalized in Memphis, Tennessee over the weekend after complaining of numbness in her left arm and leg.

The actress was shooting the drama 'Nothing But The Truth' with Matt Dillon and David Schwimmer when she took her assistant to the hospital after she sprained her ankle.

While there, Beckinsale sought her own check-up and was told she was suffering from exhaustion.

Yeah, it might be the true reason but I want to scream everytime I see 'exhaustion' when it comes to celebrities in hospital.

I hate the 'exhaustion' thing. But i love Kate. Thats kinda scary about the numbness in the arm and leg... that can be a precursor to a heart attack... eeps.

yup. and go to a hospital to be awakened every hour for blood pressure and meds? no rest there

Well, according to IMDb her father, Richard Beckinsale, died of a heart attack at 31. Kate is 34.

Hope she is okay.

The numbness doesn't sound good. It's the kind of detail that doesn't usually get mentioned in the typical Lindsay Lohan - crashed while partying type of exhaustion.

Ah Richard Beckinsale, one of Britain's most beloved comedic actors.

That's what they tell you in the ER when they don't want to deal with your condition or it's not immediately diagnosable. Obviously it doesn't matter if you're famous or not or how good your insurance is, everyone gets the same sh*tty care.

- edit - I see now that the diagnosis was made when she "sought her own check up." Still, "exhaustion" is not a diagnosis and if her arm and leg are numb she needs to get a follow up. A lot of people are suffering from conditions that are hard to diagnose and doctors dismiss them, but numbness on one side does sound heart-related. Where is House when you need him?

So she took her assistant to the ER, asked someone about her own one-sided numbness, and was told it was exhaustion, probably after they did just basic blood work. It was a dismissive diagnosis in the ER.

But, yeah the "exhaustion" has been a code for drug abuse in the past.
