Kim Cattrall was at the centre of another nasty feud on the set of Sex and the City yesterday.

However, this time the drama was purely fiction - her character Samantha was attacked by an animal rights activist while wearing a white fur coat.

Of course Samantha's friends, Carrie Bradshaw (Sarah Jessica Parker), Charlotte York (Kristin Davis) and Miranda Hobbes (Cynthia Nixon), were on hand to comfort her.

Meanwhile, Cattrall has shocked fans of the series by admitting she only agreed to do a movie version because of the large pay cheque.

Cattrall famously negotiated hard over payment for the film, and reportedly had a bust up over Parker's $US3 million salary - twice that of her co-stars.

She told Reveal magazine: "It will be nice to step into Samantha's shoes again, but I'm only doing it for the money.

"Samantha is very dear to me and I have such a wonderful time playing her, but I can say for experience than wanting financial security. We did it, we did it well. But it was always about the money."

She continued: "When I made a stand about not being in the movie because I thought the money was terrible, there was a backlash of very negative things from some of my co-stars. The role is very much a double-edged sword."

Cattrall also said viewers can expect her popular character to ring in an important milestone in the upcoming film.

She said: "I really wanted Samantha to turn 50 in the film and she does, so I'm grateful for that. I'm glad she isn't hiding her age.
"After 50, you can still be a woman - you can go shopping, have friends and do lunch. At 50 - you can love and be loved."

Ok.. at first SJP's clothes on SATC were edgy.. fashionably chic in an accessible and wearable way. Now, they're taking it WAY over the top in the movie.. most of the stuff she wears is reserved for runway.. uhh.. when did fugly become fashionable?

Carrie Bradshaw dresses like an idiot now. It's beyond unique or avant garde. The clothes are ugly and foolish looking.

I've always wanted to throw paint on some fur wearing woman. Everytime I see a big nasty fur coat in the winter I just cringe. But I'd never actually do it. Ok...well maybe if it was Twiters, I would.

Totally agree... her clothes now are looking a little too haute couture... she was always more 'vintage' or 'thrift-shop chic'... and every now and then she'd pull on some fab designer gear.

But I guess in saying that, as many outfits as I thought were fab I thought an equal number were hideous... maybe this is just another strike in the hideous box!

The wardrobe so far on this movie is awful. Whereas it used to be trendy and cutting edge, it's now over the top and ridiculous. The pictures I've seen so far look more suited to some sort of SNL-style SATC parody than anything associated with the actual show.

They're trying to pull off looks that just DON'T work... no matter how cool they try to convince everyone they are.

That picture of the 4 of them makes me cringe.
Samantha, a 50 year old woman, in alligator hooker boots... Carrie in a space diaper with a fur coat and ankle boots. Charlotte carrying what can only be described as a dead ostrich with a handle. Miranda wearing a matronly, ill-fitting dress that's totally out of character. Truly awful.
