Is Jessica Alba Broadway bound?

Jessica Alba is being courted to star in a Broadway revival of David Mamet’s Speed-the-Plow in the spring, according to The NY Post.

Speed-the-Plow is a satirical dissection of the American movie business and although Alba doesn’t have any stage experience whatsoever, Broadway still wants her! Sounds perfect for her since she pokes fun of Hollywood anyway…

The play was first performed by the Lincoln Center Theater at NYC’s Royale Theater in 1988, with Madonna in the cast. Yes, that Madonna. She too had no stage experience when she took the role of secretary Karen.

Amen, it's sickening and a slap to the face of those who work hard, waiting the tables and sacrificing much just for the chance to audition for a stage or movie role. And yet they give these roles automatically to some celebuturd just because they look good in a bikini on FHM and deserve a chance to further develop their thespian skills.

i wish that were the case, but in the past several years, a lot of hollywood film stars have been brought to broadway to improve ticket sales. rosie, brooke shields, among others. and i've seen julianne moore and delta burke in broadway productions, both of whom sucked.

I know, that's what I'm saying. I just think that REAL actors are stage actors. Period. It requires much more work and talent. No retakes, no breaks. It's do or die and thats why I think they are real actors. Being a Hollywood star does not necessarily make a good actor!

yeah, we agree. that's why i was so surprised that julianne moore sucked so bad. i think she's a great actress on film, but on the stage, she was horrid. the worst of the cast, and that was unfortunate since she was in nearly every scene.
