Donny and Marie Osmond's father dies

Donny and Marie Osmond's father, George Osmond, died Tuesday morning at age 90.

Entertainment Tonight first reported the news, and said Donny Osmond, 49, was on the ET set Tuesday morning when he found out about his loss.

George and his wife Olive, who hailed from Ogden, Utah, had nine children in their showbiz family – Donny, Marie, Alan, Jay, Jimmy, Merrill, Wayne, Tom and Virl.

Alan, Jay, Merrill, Wayne, and Donny went on to become members of the singing group The Osmonds. Marie, now 48, had a successful singing career of her own, and is currently a celebrity contestant on the fifth season of ABC's Dancing with the Stars.

Olive Osmond, the family matriarch, died in 2004.

Oprah Winfrey was set to host a big Osmond family reunion on her talk show this Friday. It was unclear how George's death will affect those plans.

^^^ Jane Seymours mom died and she only missed a results show. this show is SO jinxed this year.

i just read that about her son going to rehab. i'm thinking Marie is opening up WAY too much since she's been on DWTS. whether she means to or not, i've seen more coverage about Marie now, than i ever have, and i'm older than her.

^^She and Donnie were on Larry King tonight. She was talking about her son being in rehab. When Larry asked her how she was handling all of this stuff in her personal life and still keep on with DWTS, she gushed about her support system in her brothers. Like you said Msdebagain, she is opening up way too much. I had to keep turning the volume down when she began the weeping. The sound and sight made me cringe. She just seems to be a very troubled gal IMHO who needs to go away from the spotlight for a while and get it together.

I watched a bit of that too. Wasn't she acting weird???? Trying to crack way to many jokes. Perma smile. Girlfriend is on some serious uppers!!!! I must have missed the crying part. My radar kicked in just in time.

I watched her on Larry King as well.

When Larry asked about how her son was doing, she seemed ticked that he had found out about the rehab thing. Did anyone else notice?

She really wants to win DWTS for the "older gals" but I think she's a little overexposed at the moment.

Well is wasn't full out blubbering...It was more like teary eyed...catch in the throat kind of thing...But, yea she was acting weird...I thought it was because of all the stuff she's been going through...but now that you mentioned uppers...well, now...
