Default Barack Obama turns down Brad Pitt's help for Presidential campaign

Barack Obama camp elects not to use Brad Pitt

Tuesday, October 30th 2007, 4:00 AM
  • Brad Pitt
Sen. Barack Obama

Would Brad Pitt be a liability for Barack Obama?
When the socially conscious star offered to help the Democratic contender's presidential campaign, he was turned down, our sources report.
The overture was made through intermediaries, and it's not known whether the Illinois senator was even aware of Pitt's offer to make appearances on his behalf.
Obama's advisers felt Pitt was "a great guy," said a knowledgeable source, but they didn't want their candidate - who already has the endorsements of Pitt pals George Clooney and Matt Damon - to appear to be "too Hollywood."
What's more, as politically correct as Pitt's partner, Angelina Jolie, is now, the source ruminated that it might be hard for some Americans to forget that she used to wear a vial of blood around her neck.
Pitt's spokeswoman told us, "I double-checked with Brad, and he has no affiliation with a candidate at this time."
When we ran it by Clooney, he said: "That would surprise me" - and yet, he understood.
"I saw it with my father's campaign for Congress in 2004," Clooney said of his dad, Nick. "Being a celebrity can actually be a liability."
Damon echoed Clooney's sentiments when he told us: "I'm supporting Obama, and I thought George [Clooney] said it really well when he spoke to the senator. He said, ‘I'll support you in any way I can, including staying at home and shutting my mouth.'
"I'd like to help him - I think he's a wonderful man and would be a great leader, and I'd reiterate what George says: I'll help him in any way I can, including getting out of the way."
But it sounds as if there may be a change of tune at Obama headquarters now that he's fallen 30 points behind Hillary Clinton in the polls.
"If Brad Pitt wants to campaign for Obama, the only challenge will be deciding who staffs him," Jen Psaki, Obama's deputy press secretary, told us yesterday.
Besides, it'd be all in the family if Pitt hopped on the campaign bus. Ancestry.com historian Megan Smolenyak claimed Sunday that Pitt and Obama are ninth cousins.
Even if they're not, a White House takeover might make an excellent "Ocean's 14." Barack Obama camp elects not to use Brad Pitt

"What's more, as politically correct as Pitt's partner, Angelina Jolie, is now, the source ruminated that it might be hard for some Americans to forget that she used to wear a vial of blood around her neck" Translation: Angie's such a whore, even the political campaigns won't touch her!

How vain that he thought his support would help!

Oh please, this has to do entirely with Oprah. She's been front and center in supporting Obama and we all know she loathes Brad.

I have a lil crush on Obama. Something sexy about him. Something makes me think he is probably a little freaky in bed.
Sigh.

Smart move. Brad and Angelina are way too polarizing of celebrities, I wouldn't one either one near my campaign if I were him.

I do think Hillary might take Obama for VP, because he has so much political funding, ie,cash, it'll be hard for Hillary to turn her back on all that potential money.
