Owen Wilson gives first interview since suicide attempt--on Myspace

Owen Wilson has given his first interview since his suicide attempt – to his longtime friend, director Wes Anderson.

In the interview, to be posted online Friday at midnight, Wilson talks with the director of his latest film, The Darjeeling Limited, as part of the MySpace Artist on Artist series, according to USA Today.

Wilson has been mum about the night when cops were called to his home for what a police report labeled an "attempt suicide" in August.

At the time, Wilson asked for privacy with a statement saying, "I respectfully ask that the media allow me to receive care and heal in private during this difficult time."

There is no word on whether Wilson will address his recent troubles.

In September, at the Venice Film Festival, Anderson said that his friend was "doing well." He added: "When he's ready he's going to speak for himself much better than anyone else could. He has a very good way with words."

Wilson and Anderson have worked together on multiple projects, including Bottle Rocket and The Royal Tenenbaums, which they co-wrote, and The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou.

I really hope he bounces back.. I think he is a genuinely funny, and a good actor.

I love Owen--he makes me laugh and he's smart and funny. I love all the Wilson brothers, and I hope they all pull through. ....It does make me laugh that he doesn't want Kate back. I thought it would be the other way around, for some reason.

i just saw it.
it makes no mention of his suicide, like the promos for it say.

its cheap.
he still looks painfully sad.

Kate probably only wants him back so she can get kudos, and the fact he may not want her back will only make her want him more.

It'll be her karma; apparently she dumped Dax thinking she could get Owen back. Owen probably likes/dislikes her; if it was true that he attempted suicide because he saw her making her out with Dax, I assume that he was pretty torn up over her and he's probably keeping his distance to avoid being hurt again.

Myspace is definetly a way to get yourself taken seriously... I wish nothing but the best for the guy, but if he wanted to be sincere about talking about it, well... It just wouldn't be on Myspace, I guess. =\

More and moe musicians and actors are using Myspace. In his defense, I would say it's the way to get the story out that you want to get out. Not that it's always the truth, but there's complete control over it. Probably why he put it on there, instead of doing an interview he has little control over.
