Ellen DeGeneres, who has had a long and emotional week, decided to cut it short Thursday and canceled her taping for Friday's program.
"Ellen is taking a long weekend and will be back with a new show on Tuesday," reads a message posted at 1:52 p.m. Thursday on her talk show's Web site.
DeGeneres, 49, broke down in tears on Tuesday's program, revealing that a dog she had adopted, and then given to her hairdresser's family, had been taken back by the rescue agency he came from – upsetting her friend and her daughters.
On Wednesday, the former Oscars host continued her public appeal for the agency to return the dog, Iggy, to the family, while also learning that Iggy had since been given away to a different family. The same day, it emerged that the Mutts & Moms organization had been receiving death threats – and that one of the partners there had filed a police report alleging harassment.
DeGeneres said on Thursday's show that she would stop discussing Iggy publicly, but that she was still holding out hope for the dog's return.

Apparently Iggy is not the first dog she has adopted and then gave away.
Maybe the problem is with the cats. Get rid of the cats and she'll be able to keep any future dogs she adopts/buys.

Uh... K, I think she's taking this just a little bit too far. She should've read the fine print, and none of this would have happened. Or, just, you know... Adopt a dog for the hair dressers family so that kids will be happy, and you and we can all get over this. =\

The problem is that she is not introducing a new pet to her already pets in an effective way. She needs some training herself... She needs to spend some time with people who handle cats and dogs, so this will not happen again. I think she has a good heart, but Nic is right, she should've read the fine print and saved herself and that little girl some grief.
But she should not get rid of her cats...good grief...
