Lindsay Lohan ain't broke; just newly thrifty

Lindsay Lohan has only been out of rehab for a few days but already she's reclaimed her place as top-choice tabloid fodder. London's News of the World is convinced the willpower-deficient starlet, 21, is no longer able to maintain the luxurious lifestyle to which she's grown so accustomed.

According to the tab, Linds is "broke" after she "squandered" $7 million on "wild partying," supposedly spending mountains of money on everything from clothes ($1 million) to grooming ($70,000 on hair care and self-tanning) to keeping a roof over her head (a hefty hotel bill at the Chateau Marmont in Los Angeles).

The double-DUI-busted star's other ostensible expenditures include her substantial rehab and legal bills, along with a purported half-million bucks to keep a chauffeur -- yes, someone who's paid to drive her around -- on standby 24-7.

Uh-huh.

(By the by, the amount of dough the NoTW maintains she's frittered away happens to be the exact same figure oily oil heir Brandon Davis cited in his infamous "firecr**ch" rant, when he cackled, "I think she's worth about seven million, which means she's really poor. It's disgusting. She lives in a motel.")

Anyhoo, Lohan is set to begin work on the tango film "Dare to Love Me" this week in Los Angeles, although the paper claims she's so hard up for cash she's crashing in the guest house of a moneybags producer on her stripper flick flop, "I Know Who Killed Me."

"Lindsay doesn't have much choice as she is totally broke," alleges a source, who fails to explain why the movie production company wouldn't put her up as part of her contract. "The only reason she's coming back to L.A. is to earn some money fast."

Not so, says the actress' ever-vigilant spokeswoman, who dismisses the down-and-out rumors as complete hooey.

"That's ridiculous," scoffs Leslie Sloane Zelnik to MSN Entertainment, "but typical from [the] tabloids."

Still, it was a thriftier Lindsay who emerged from the Cirque Lodge rehab facility in Utah. Last week, the couture-adoring star was reportedly spotted perusing the racks at reasonably priced clothing outlet Forever 21.

And E! Online says she revealed to staffers at a Park City, Utah, boutique that she's now on a daily budget, something that caused her to fret over whether her credit card would be rejected as she rang up $900 (!) in purchases, including boots, a puffy coat and lip-plumping gloss (it wasn't).

Perhaps LiLo's retail therapy was part of her desire to look good for her meet-and-greet with the parents (and stepparents) of her new boyfriend, snowboarder Riley Giles, whom she hooked up with during her two-month stint in treatment.

E! says Giles' apparently rose-colored glasses-wearing folks gave Lohan the thumbs-up after a recent bread-breaking at a Sundance eatery.

"... Riley's parents just loved her," says an insider. "They think the kids will be a really good influence on each other and will be better able to keep one another sober." Giles, who is from tony Newport Beach, Calif., has also gotten the seal of approval from Lindsay's newly reconciled jailbird dad, Michael, a coveted nod if there ever was one. "He's a great, great kid," Papa Lohan gushes to People. "If you met him, you'd like him."

Lilo shopping at Forever 21? I need to find my ice skates because Hell has surely frozen over.

Rehab, my ass. It's obvious her little stint in rehab was just so she could save her career, what's left of it anyway. Nobody is going to insure her ass on set in Hollywood.

i saw the pics of her leaving forever 21 and i said aww thats a cute blue top, to my fiance...i went to forever 21 later that day when i was shopping and lo and behold, there was that exact top that lohan was wearing as she left the store
