Usher and Tameka Foster talk about their 'true love'
Usher and his new wife, Tameka Foster, say they were taken aback by all the rumors that swirled about their relationship this summer – but in the end, it made them stronger as a couple.
"Ours is not a typical love story, but it is a true one," Usher tells Essence magazine for its November issue. "Tameka and I have been fortunate enough to go through the thick of it in the beginning. We've had that opportunity to huddle up as a team, to make sure that we're clear and speak as one voice."
Usher and Foster were married Aug. 4 in a simple ceremony in Atlanta, after canceling a more lavish event in the Hamptons – and enduring speculation about their commitment to each other and the support they were getting from their families.
The couple, who are expecting a son, were stunned by the negative press.
"It was like, wow," says Usher, who turned 29 on Sunday. "[Getting married] and having a child is something that everyone should celebrate. What's happened to us as a culture and a people?"
Foster, 37, reveals that the doubters even included some of her friends.
"Thank God I didn't listen to my girlfriends," she says. "Usher was my road dawg. I'd seen him love, and I'd watched him date women who were not worthy of him. He was so sweet, going out of his way to cater to their every need. And I'd see them not even be grateful."
She adds that their love is based on complete openness – something she hasn't experienced in her romantic life before.
"I feel totally uninhibited with Usher," Foster says. "I've never been in a situation with anyone, even as far back as high school, where there were no secrets. I know I can tell him anything and he's not going to judge me. I can finally share my dreams. And because of that, I know that man loves me."
That bond will only grow, Usher says, after the birth of their son.
"Tameka's given me one of the greatest gifts I'll ever have," he says. "With a child, now I have purpose. I understand love."

"Ours is not a typical love story, but it is a true one," Usher tells Essence magazine for its November issue.
Once upon a time there was a washed up singer who hooked up with an aging hoodrat, who tricked him into marriage by getting pregnant, then she got him to adopt her other baby daddy's kid, and then she waited for her chance to milk his dumb ass dry. Yup. Sounds like a true love story.

I hope it lasts, but there is something fishy about them.
Maybe she has something on him that can tarnish his career so he is just going
along with the flow of things.

He likes his ladies a little older...... he must not be too dumb.
Seriously though, I hope it works out for them. Probably won't, but oh well. Hope she doesn't steal all his money.
He has a cartoonish look about him, but he's cute!

^Wasn't there a rumor that she didn't want to sign any pre-nup? I think even
his mother was against the marriage from the beginning.

I don't think they will last. She seems like she is in it for the obvious reasons.
Supposedly she didn't want his mom at their wedding and can't get along with her or some shit?
Well, that is a red flag right there. She should be trying to get along with his family, not shut him out from it.
Messing with mothers is an entirely different level of bad karma!

You're right about that!
Maybe the mom doesn't like her, though they did get married in Atlanta, and that's where the mom is from, right?
It could be that they had the wedding close to home to accomodate her..... or to suck up.

Usher's career, or what's left of it, could probably use the tarnishing. At least people would know he still had one.
And I think Tameka just put some of that older woman lovin' on Usher and he just got caught up in the game. Because Usher's always been a momma's boy, which explains the tension with his mother and his hoodrat.

^You are so right. I remember how Usher goes on and on about his mother when
he gets interviewed, so it's really not surprising that this two can't get along.
Actually, come to think of it Usher hasn't been exactly popular these days...
I think the whole time she was in the background as the stylist or whatever her
job description is, she has observed him and pretty much knows how to play
the mind game to get what she wants.
The divorce is going to be so messy if it ever comes to that (likely).
I heard he treated Chilli really bad towards the end of their relationship...

Yeah, I heard he dogged Chilli out too. So, maybe Tameka is karma kicking him in the ass.
And, you're right, that divorce is going to be messy, because Tameka knows she'll already get alimony and child support from Usher. And if they don't have a pre-nup, then she's gonna bleed him dry.
