Child porn police to investigate Elton John

SIR ELTON JOHN is facing an investigation from child porn police after a photo he donated to an art exhibition was seized by cops.

Art Gallery bosses at The Baltic Centre For Contemporary Art in Gateshead, England have withdrawn the explicit photo a day before the exhibition is due to start on Wednesday (26Sep07), reports British newspaper The Sun.

The photo, taken by famed photographer Nan Godin, features two young girls posing provocatively - and is one of 4,000 pictures used in the Sir Elton John Photographic Collection.

The Rocket Man hitmaker is said to admire the "directness, truth and poignancy" of Godin’s work.

Police are said to be investigating whether the gallery has broken the law for using the image. A police spokesperson says, "Who owns it or owned it is also part of the investigation." John’s publicist declined to comment.

I think it is very sad that this is even a story. I haven't seen the picture (obv) but I remember a similar furore abut some pics of a photog's naked kids that she displayed and people starting screaming about that.

My parents have scores of pictures of two little girls cavorting around having water fights in the nude, sharing a bath together and many more. They're of me and my sister.

This society is so hyper-sexualised these days, it's a disgrace. We're robbing our own children of their childhood for nothing more than a hysteria brought on by media taboids trying to sell a few more papers. It makes me sick.

no, it doesn't. but if the police felt the need to open an investigation, i'm sure it's with due cause, as opposed to say, a nosy nighbor who wants to rat out a photog for taking pictures she thought to be racy.

on that same note, i think the only reason elton is being brought into is is b/c he owns the pics...and altho i do think that's questionable juedgement on his part (owning that type of "art"), more questionable still is the photog that took them.

A female newsreader in the UK got investigated because she took some 'bath-tub' pics of her kids in for developing and some well meaning developer saw something in the pics that wasn't there.
