Britney Spears has been charged with one count of hit and run causing property damage and one count of driving without a valid California license. Both charges are misdemeanors, each carrying a maximum of 6 months in jail.

The charges stem from an August 6 incident in L.A. where Spears was in a private parking lot in the San Fernando Valley.

The Los Angeles City Attorney filed charges this afternoon.

Spears' arraignment is set for October 10.

The City Attorney sent Spears a letter notifying her of the charges. That letter was mailed today.

The victim filed a police report at the LAPD North Hollywood Division on August 9 and filed a report.

I hate to defend this idiot but that's the parking lot for the Petco on Ventura. I was in that parking lot just last Saturday and it is kinda hard to get in there because the spots are a bit narrow. I tried and even in my 2-door accord I was too afraid I'd hit the car next to me so I parked somewhere else in a bigger spot.

But make no mistake, she's still a moron. Especially because in the video she never even checks the other car. The first words out of her mouth are "Did I hurt my car?" Selfish bitch.

Brit Brit is going to jail! Ok, probably not. Today she was charged with one count of hit and run, causing property damage and one count of driving without a valid California license. The charges stem from that little fender bender in a parking lot back in August when Brit's stupid ass hit a parked car. The owner of the car filed a police report on August 9th after they didn't hear from Britney or her camp.
She could get up to 6 months in jail if convicted, but we know she won't spend 1 minute in jail. Her arraignment is set for October 10.
That may be the reason why Britney was seen crying as she left her lawyer's office this afternoon. Apparently she broke into tears while going to her car. Maybe it has nothing to do with these charges. Maybe she's crying, because she failed her drug test! Drama as usual.

Why on earth would you feel sorry for her??? She made her own bed, now she has to lie on it. Watching the video, its clear that she gives two shits less about the other car she just hit. She has no problem damaging other peoples' property, as long as her own car is okay. She doesn't even give a first look, much less second, to the other car as she checks for damages, doesn't even leave a note. That pisses me off. And she doesn't even have a valid drivers license! What the hell is wrong with this chick?

Kim Robard-Rifkin is the owner of the car that Britney Spears hit on August 6, and didn’t leave a note with her contact info. Legally speaking, that’s a hit-and-run. Here’s more from celebtv:

"I found out it was Britney Spears who hit my car and I was sort of amused…Of course she’ll get to me," Robard-Rifkin remembers thinking, “because obviously there was a lot of paparazzi there and what kind of person wouldn’t realize that wasn’t going to be on TV and she had to be responsible and contact me?"

As it turns out, Spears did not contact the nurse. Instead, Robard-Rifkin found out about the accident when an Australian reporter showed up at her door at 8:00 a.m. the morning after the accident for comments.

Robard-Rifkin’s husband then went online and saw the pictures of Britney hitting his wife’s station wagon. “I saw pictures of exactly what happened,” says Robard-Rifkin. “It was bad enough that she hit my car, but then when she got out and slammed her car door into mine, that was sort of slightly annoying.”

That’s Britney. Stumbling around town smashing things, tripping old ladies in the street, blasting through school zones at 180 mph, yup she’s a menace. But she has a good excuse, she’s studying to be a villain in a nonexistent movie about a woman armed with an umbrella and a fast car, who goes crazy doing drugs then terrorizes the small town of Los Angeles.

Good catch, I didn't notice the location. She looks like she's going into Starbucks. And I don't feel bad for her at all. She hits one car and parks so close to the other, the person probably had to climb in the passenger side to get in.
