Santa Monica police confirmed that officers responded to an attempted suicide at Owen Wilson's house, according to the police log.
The department's "Call for Service Report" posted online shows that the report came in at 12:08 p.m. Sunday from Wilson's 23rd Street address and that officers cleared the case five hours later.
The call was logged as "Attempt Suicide" – the first official confirmation of the reason for the call.
No other details were provided.
Wilson, 38, was recovering at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. He issued a statement pleading for privacy to allow him to "receive care and heal in private during this difficult time."

I don't understand why people had (and probably 'have') a hard time believing he did attempt suicide. Yes, I know many people believe he has a drug problem, so I can't understand why people are having such a hard time believing he may have deliberately overdosed on drugs (prescription or illegal), and then in such a state attempted to cut his wrists...
...It's just sad and unexpected, I honestly hope he gets all the help he needs.

That was my theory too. I also hope he gets help, he's too smart and funny an actor to go this early.

Does this seem a bit invasive to anyone else? I realize all of celeb culture has some element of invasiveness to it but this isn't a guy who flaunts his life for all to see. It's one thing to bring up crap on people who leave it laying about (Brit, Linds, Banned etc) but to go digging up personal crap on a relatively private guy who is already struggling just seems....nasty.
I know, I know...send in the nuns.

No, you're absolutely right, it is invasive. But I guess that's what the whole celebrity attraction is based on, I feel hypocritical at times because I'm partaking in it right now .

I do agree. He doesn't do anything for me, not as a person,
not as an actor and certainly not as a supposedly "hot" guy,
but he seems likable enough not to wish anything bad on him.
He doesn't seem an attention whore like all these teenage and
twenty something idiot chicks like the hohans, parasites and
shitneys.
On another, morbid, note: I think I read somewhere that males
usually commit (or try to) suicide by shooting and hanging and
it's usually females who choose the pills and wrist slashing method.
Either way, he should be left alone so he can figure out what
means most to him and concentrate on that.

I agree.
Brit and Linds & Co. just .....there's nothing private about them. There is no talent or humility, either. And this just strikes me as shocking and sad. It just makes me sad.

I think it's invasive as well. The family must be furious about this...I know I would be. It's like, enough already...let him get better.

People seem to automatically assume that funny/famous/rich people are always jolly all the time and wonder what in the world they would have to be depressed about...well fame and money doesn't buy happiness. In fact, a lot of comedians and other funny people suffered with depression, drug addiction and other serious issues...Richard Jeni for instance and Chris Farley obviously had a very dark side to him that not a lot of people knew about until after he died...
But I like Owen Wilson. I am sad about this whole thing...I hope he gets the help he so desperately needs...
