Default Paul Rudd - PEOPLE's 2021 Sexiest Man Alive

Paul Rudd, the affable actor best known for playing "Ant-Man," was named People magazine's sexiest man alive on Wednesday, joining the likes of Idris Elba, George Clooney and Bradley Cooper.
Rudd, 52, whose career stretches back 30 years, seemed taken aback at the honor, as was his wife.

"I do have an awareness, enough to know that when people hear that I'd be picked for this, they would say, 'What?'" he told People in a cover story.
"She was stupefied," he said, describing the reaction of Julie, his wife of 18 years. "After some giggling and shock, she said, 'Oh, they got it right.' And that was very sweet."

Rudd played the kind boyfriend of Lisa Kudrow's wacky Phoebe on TV comedy "Friends" and later took larger roles in comedies like "Knocked Up." He later joined the Marvel superhero franchise, starring as "Ant-Man" in 2015.

Rudd, who has two children, will next appear in "Ghostbusters: Afterlife" and in the TV series "The Shrink Next Door."

Actor Michael B. Jordan was last year's pick as sexiest man alive, following John Legend and Idris Elba in 2019 and 2018.
Rudd joked that he expected his life to change radically after getting the annual title.
"I'm hoping now that I'll finally be invited to some of those sexy dinners with Clooney and Pitt and B Jordan," he told People. "And I figure I'll be on a lot more yachts."
The special double issue of People, which includes profiles of dozens of other celebrities ranging from "Succession" star Nicholas Braun to comedian Pete Davidson, hits U.S. newsstands on Friday.

It's People magazine. Their readership is Middle America, so of course their choices have to be at least half a decade behind the zeitgeist, or some country dude only Flyover country cares about (wasn't Blake Shelton on the cover?). Paul Rudd had a moment about 5 years ago where there were all those memes about how he's ageless and eternally hot. I can kind of see how the title would have made sense then but now it's like, here's a blandly good looking white dude who hasn't been in the news for 5 years.

I have never seen him in anything, but he is certainly a better choice than Blake Shelton.

Ohhhh. Paul Rudd. I've been in love with him since I saw him in Clueless in 1995. It's eerie how he doesn't seem to age.

    He might be a brujo.

    It's ok, I'm into it.

i was super into him in clueless too but i think a lot of it was the character because he was never that attractive to me in anything else. i totally get the appeal though and from everything i've heard he's also good people. but i think there's something broken with me where i'm turned off by too pretty and too wholesome

He has a pleasing face, at least, which makes him a better choice than Bradley Cooper or Blake Shelton, but I still don't find him sexy at all. Also, I feel like this choice is out of date.

I'm ok with this, but I don't think he's sexy. I think he's really handsome, super charming, very sweet, etc. Kinda the boy next door vibe.

I wouldn’t call him the sexiest man alive, but he’s at least good looking unlike the men they usually choose. He was hot in Clueless.
