Default Bruce Springsteen arrested for DWI in New Jersey

Bruce Springsteen was arrested for DWI and reckless driving in his home state, it was revealed Wednesday — days after he appeared in a much-hyped Super Bowl commercial for Jeep.

The “Born to Run” icon, 71, was busted Nov. 14 at Gateway National Recreation Area in Sandy Hook, a spokesperson for the National Parks Service said.

Springsteen was charged with DWI, reckless driving and consuming alcohol in a closed area, and was cooperative throughout his arrest, the spokesperson said.

According to TMZ, which first reported the arrest, Springsteen has a court date in the coming weeks and has no known prior busts for DWI.

Springsteen’s rep did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

News of the bust broke just days after Springsteen appeared in and narrated a Super Bowl spot for Jeep, in which he implored Americans to move toward the political “middle” in the spirit of unity amid recent bitter division.

Can you get black & tan in a can? They have to be mixed "live" here.

Yeah, it's a beer brewed here by Yuengling - a company in Pennsylvania. It's dirt cheap and actually pretty good - which pains me to say as someone who is at least 25% Irish.

^^^ yeah. agree that is available here but it's not like it tastes like it does in the UK. or even in the US when it is mixed live in a bar.

Oh, yes, definitely agree that it's not as good as UK or prepared in a bar. I forget what a bar Black and Tan is made from but it is higher-quality beer - like an English porter for the black and some kind of lager for the tan. The Irish alternative is supposed to be a half and half. Guinness Extra Stout for black and Harp lager for the tan.

I'm pretty shocked that he did this at 71. I couldn't find another DUI but why do I think it's happened before? It looks damn stupid at his age. His son is a firefighter. What does his wife say when he walks in the door after she desperately hugs him?

I got a kick out the posters above who weren't fazed by Bruce's stupidity and went right into the beer discussion.

What would Mrs. Mo say to you, Mo?

Bruce Springsteen busted for DWI after one shot of tequila

Bruce Springsteen was allegedly busted in Sandy Hook, New Jersey, when he pulled over to take pictures with fans — and then took a shot of tequila offered by one of them in full view of the cops, a music industry insider said.

The “Born to Run” icon, 71, had been riding his motorcycle on the peninsula on Nov. 14 when he “was spotted by fans who asked him to pull over and take some pictures,” according to a source close to Springsteen.

“Bruce stopped, took the pictures, then a fan offered him a shot of liquor, which he took, while sitting on his bike, which was stationary,” the source said.

“Park Police saw what happened and they immediately pulled Springsteen over as he drove away.”

The Post has not been able to immediately verify this account with law enforcement.

Springsteen was charged with DWI, reckless driving and consuming alcohol in a closed area, a spokesperson for the National Park Service said.

The Asbury Park Press reported Springsteen’s blood-alcohol content was 0.02 — just a quarter of New Jersey’s legal limit — when he was arrested.

The legal threshold in New Jersey is .08, which the outlet said calls into question why Springsteen was charged with driving while intoxicated.

News of the bust broke just days after Springsteen appeared in and narrated a Super Bowl spot for Jeep, in which he implored Americans to move toward the political “middle” in the spirit of unity amid recent bitter division.

The ad has since been yanked from Jeep’s YouTube page.

I have such fond memories of that area, too. Sandy Hook is where there is an enormous clothing-optional beach (Gunnison). The only police officers I've ever seen in my 20+ years of going up to that area of NJ are the park police on the beach.

that doesn't sound fair if bruce was way under the limit.

and bruce is celebrated because he is pretty genial and loves his fans. he always stops and takes pics when they ask. very friendly.

it's pretty well known bruce has never been a big drinker so i have no trouble believing he was below the limit and they specifically targeted him because he's a well known liberal and this is just cops being cops and proving why everyone hates them.

That’s a weird story. However it says arrested for DUI, not charged for DUI. If you’re under the legal limit you can’t be charged. But the story alleges that he had a shot and IMMEDIATELY got pulled over and blew a 0.02, but he shouldn’t have blown anything after ONE shot if he was “immediately” pulled over... if the cops saw him take the shot and pulled him over right after there wouldn’t have been enough time for his body to process the alcohol to even register the alcohol... weird story.
