Dr. Dre suffers brain aneurysm, in ICU: report

Dr. Dre has been hospitalized in the intensive care unit at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles after suffering a brain aneurysm.

TMZ reported on Tuesday, January 5, that the music mogul was rushed by ambulance to the hospital and taken directly to the ICU after the aneurysm on Monday, January 4.

The website reports that the 55-year-old is stable and lucid but is undergoing tests as doctors try to determine what caused the brain bleed.

“The doctors are extremely concerned, this is very serious,” a source tells Us Weekly exclusively, adding that Dre is “semi-responsive” and was texting with his kids on Monday night.

The insider added that Dre had “a horrible headache at home for about 24 hours” and his kids “begged him to seek medical attention.”

Reps for Dre (real name Andre Romelle Young) did not respond to Us’ request for comment.

They now say he's stable and expected to be able to go home soon. Don't know how reliable that is though.

My Dad had a brain aneurysm when he was 57. He collapsed one night but because he'd had a beer or two and was in a warm room he figured he'd stood up too quickly, etc. He had a constant headache too. Then a couple of weeks after that he collapsed in the shower - turned out he'd had a minor brain bleed the first time, then a full blown aneurysm and was rushed into emergency surgery. That was almost 9 years ago, and he's completely fine now, maybe a little quick to anger but other than that he's the same, can walk, talk, etc. which at one point wasn't necessarily a given.

I hope Dr. Dre makes a full recovery.

^^^Faking it isn't the thing, but to exaggerate and use it to gather sympathy from a judge? That's totally up his alley.

that’s different - he’d be milking something that actually happened to him for shady purposes. but “ploy” would seem to indicate suspicion that he’s faking the whole thing which I imagine lawyers would be able to easily verify?

I never thought he was faking, but exaggerating is something I could see him doing if it would help his case. He's not above trying to do whatever it takes to get out of giving her money, he's already proven that much. I think that's what novice thought as well.

i misunderstood then, i thought you meant he was faking which i think even a bad lawyer would be able to see through. but even so, it doesn't change his assets so even if he's trying to gain sympathy, it seems like it's something her lawyers would be able to use to their advantage, by saying that with his health at risk and the chances of him dropping dead now higher than before, it's important that they sort out the divorce and the kids' (and ex-wife's) financial futures ASAP.
