Default Cameron Diaz hasn't ruled out a return to acting

'I'll come back and people will be like there's a new older actress on the scene!' Cameron Diaz hasn't ruled out a return to acting but insists being a mother is the 'happiest time of my life'

She hasn't filmed a movie role since 2014.
And Cameron Diaz has insisted 'never say never' to a career comeback during a candid chat about family and work with her friend Naomi Campbell.
The star, 48, who welcomed her first child, daughter Raddix in December 2019 with husband Benji Madden, gushed that motherhood has made her the 'happiest' she's ever been.

Quiet life: She hasn't filmed a movie role since 2014. And Cameron Diaz has insisted 'never say never' to a career comeback during a candid chat about family and work with Naomi Campbell

Cameron was a guest on model Naomi's No Filter YouTube series, and talked about her decision to step away from her hugely successful movie career six years ago.
Asked by Naomi if she would consider a return to acting, the actress insisted she hadn't ruled it out, teasing: 'I'll come back and people will be like there's a new older actress on the scene!... You should never say never''

In the meantime little Raddix is keeping the star busy, as she gushed to her friend: 'It's the happiest time of my life'.
Rewinding to the start of her acting career, Cameron revealed she was nearly passed over for the role of Tina Carlyle in The Mask, which would prove to be her launching pad into super stardom.

Happy: The star, 48, who welcomed her first child, daughter Raddix in December 2019 with husband Benji Madden, gushed that motherhood has made her the 'happiest' she's ever been (pictured in June 2016)

It was Cameron's first acting job after five years as a model. 'I got The Mask when I turned 21 and that was it,' she explained of her rise to fame, but admitted she nearly didn't land the part.
'They were talking to Anna Nicole Smith and you know the studio really wanted her cause I hadn't really done anything.'
'I think maybe five or ten days before filming they said yes to me,' she revealed, adding that she took acting lessons after being cast.

Cameron last starred alongside Jamie Foxx and Rose Byrne in the 2014 feature adaptation of the Broadway musical Annie.
In the interim, she has focused on her relationship with husband of five years Benji, of the band Good Charlotte.
Another one of her recent non-acting projects has been her successful wine brand Avaline.

Raddix? Is that a rash medicine, or a mutant vegetable?

Me, too. She is tough, athletic, assertive, smart. I remember there was something she was doing years ago with friends like Jessica Alba, where they would go to different places around the world and surf and do other cool activities. She sounds like a lot of fun to hang out with. I still don't get the Benji Madden - but it's just based on appearance.

She made so much money on the Shrek movies that she never has to work again unless she really wants to. I wouldn't, but I'm lazy.

I've got a soft spot for her too, except for the Raddix Madden thing, but I'll just shake my head at that. She seems like she'd be a cool person to hang out with.

ETA: And I'm still surprised but impressed that both she and Benji and Nicole and Joel are both still couples after all this time.

me too. I do not understand how people who have enough money to live the rest of their lives without having to work again, continue to work. I wouldn't do nothing but I would do something like start a business, like an art gallery or something like that, but I would have other people run it and do the day to day stuff. And I would spend my days taking really good care of myself, traveling, going back to school to study amazing, interesting things without worrying about whether or not that degree will let me make a decent living, collecting art, etc.

I was definitely born without the drive to build an empire lol

There are so many things to do and see on this planet, that if I had the money and just decided to retire and travel, I would be seeing something new until the day I die. And that's just travel.

I give her enormous props for getting that kind of financial security together and still have the desire/drive to raise a child under what seem to be really nice circumstances.

i don't want to build an empire, either. i work because i like to. but i'm at the point that when this current project is over i would likely take a break. this year has just been too hard on me and my family. too many deaths, too much isolation.

You and me both. The minute I was able to quit my insurance job, I was outta there. No more schlepping up to the city every day on the train. I don't miss it one bit. I did a part time seasonal job for awhile but the company went out of business so that was over. Then my mom got sick, and passed away. That basically took a year to get everything settled, and I never went back to work. I have an inherited IRA that pays me every year, and as soon as I turned 62, I filed for social security. My house and cars are paid off. Mr still works, but he's younger than me. Around here, a lot of retirees volunteer in town, and I've done some of that. Last week I was cleaning out a filing cabinet and found a folder with old resumes. Shredded them!
