John Stamos' Fiancee Caitlin McHugh Is Pregnant with Their First Child!

John Stamos is going to be a dad!
The 54-year-old actor has announced that his fiancee, Caitlin McHugh, is pregnant with the couple’s first child.

On why the couple decided to have a child, he said she asked him, “‘Maybe we should have a kid [before we get married]’ and I said, ‘Why?’” Caitlin then responded, “Because you’re old.”

“The [pregnancy] happened. Then I said, I better have a ring on her finger because it’s the right thing to do, and I wanted to marry her anyway,” John told People. “So I called her parents to ask, and it was like, ‘You better!’“

“I’ll be a fun dad. I’ve been practicing for a long time. I’ve done every schtick you can do with a baby on TV … all the bits and jokes and diaper gags. I’ll probably just do all that stuff,” John added.

    It's about time pepaw.

I always secretly wished he'd meet and get in a relationship with Jennifer Aniston.

I can not imagine having a baby at this age. Maybe some can, but I am sorry, I am tired. I don't know how I did it in my twenties.

Well, John is a man. If his life changes in any way that truly sucks for him (like missing beauty sleep) he's probably out the door.

Sad but true. Old dads get more props and less stress than old moms. Unfair. But then there is that medical study that links late-age dads to having autistic children, so there's that.

You know what's kind of interesting? Looking at the dates and math, it appears that Warren Beatty became a dad for the first time at almost the same age. In Beatty's case, it appears to be 55 instead of 54. It supports my theory that there is a certain type of Hollywood guy who just wants to bonk until he's not having fun any more and then starts a family.

Hey, I could be wrong and he really gets into it. But I remember the constant balance of every fucking thing right down to simple things like getting a shower and putting food in my body. Basically feeling continually sleep deprived for about the first 2 years straight. And I had an easy baby. And I was in my 20's.

Same here. I had my boys at 27 and 31 and have no idea how I survived since I was basically a single mother from day one. My ex did enjoy the boys but he never "took care" of them without being yelled at first.

I think it is kind of a leap of faith, and a risk, to assume that a confirmed bachelor who has been with all kinds of women previously, will suddenly dovetail into a paternal instinct and get with the program in terms of doing their fair share, and taking care of the spouse and baby, etc. Especially, if the relationship itself is kind of new. I still think that the energy level also depends on how well someone takes care of themselves physically.

According to the internet he's worth 40 mill. He can afford to hire all sorts of help.

    ^That. Some Beatty quotes:

"The most important thing that’s ever happened — the best thing that’s ever happened to me — was Annette and having four kids."
"I always felt I wasn’t trying to avoid marriage, I was trying to avoid divorce. I had no doubt when I met Annette that it was time to get married."
"The secret to our successful marriage is 'respect.'"
That also goes for his children:
"It is a burden, I think, to have two parents that are well-known, so I completely respect their privacy. I could go on and on and on and on talking about them, because they're brilliant and fun. But no, I think you have to give them a break, and they have their privacy."

I'm happy for him. Ever since he and Rebecca Romijn divorced and she married that gross Jerry O'Connell, I've been hoping he finds happiness again.

i think younger parents might have more energy, but older dads/parents have more money (in the majority of cases) and that definitely softens the blow.

one of my good friends got married and had a kid at 53, after being a bachelor his entire life. he didn't even really have long-term relationships before that. his wife was 37/38 at the time. so yeah they were both 'older' parents but he's also pretty well off so they had a night nurse, housekeeper, etc. so it's not like his wife was trying to get laundry done in the rare moments the baby was taking a nap, and nagging her husband to do his fair share.

i don't want kids but if i did i'd rather have them now with an older dude who can pay for help than with a young guy who's probably not going to do his share anyway, and won't be able to afford to hire help either.

I dream of being "night nurse and housekeeper" wealthy. Alas, we are merely "my mom will stay for as long as I ask her" well-off
