NASHVILLE — Country music legend Loretta Lynn suffered a stroke at her Tennessee home Thursday night and was hospitalized, according to a post on her official website.

Maria Malta, a publicist for Lynn, confirmed Friday that the 85-year-old singer and songwriter was admitted into a Nashville hospital after suffering the stroke at her home in Hurricane Mills, the Associated Press reported.

According to the Friday afternoon post on her website, Lynn is “currently under medical care and is responsive and expected to make a full recovery.”
Upcoming events on her tour schedule will be postponed; more information on those dates will be posted on Lynn’s website (LorettaLynn.com) in the coming days.

In April, Lynn celebrated her 85th birthday by playing two sold-out shows at the Ryman Auditorium. She’s scheduled to return to the Ryman in August; those concerts will coincide with the release of her forthcoming album Wouldn’t It Be Great.

Why is she still touring? Is it because she wants to or does she have to, due to money problems. Either way, I hope she fully recovers and can continue to do whatever makes her happy.

Is it bad that the first thing I thought when looking at the pics was "how old are these photos? The mic has a cord!"

I can't even tell you last time I saw a microphone with a cord at a concert.

^Wow. She sounds great. It seems like she's enjoying herself, too, and she's not just propping herself up in front of an audience just for money.

I wish her the best. They can do amazing things for stroke victims now, especially if they catch it early.

She sounds amazing! And puts a certain cuntry singer to shame who is over half her age.

Yes they can but unfortunately not for my Mom. She had a Massive Stroke and fought for 2 months and then she had Pneumonia. She passed 2 weeks ago today.

I'm sorry, Wisher. My Mom, who would have been 93 this month, also had a stroke last month, and passed away a week later. We were lucky enough to have her, pretty healthy and alert, until just the last couple of years, when dementia started to take it's toll, but she stayed pretty happy and sweet in spite of it. We were also lucky to have a little time to say our good-byes. I hope Loretta Lynn recovers, but if not, at least she was able to live life robustly to the last.
