Tommy Lee was left hanging upside-down after his drum rollercoaster broke down during Mötley Crüe's final gig.

The 53-year-old musician had to be rescued after his elaborate drum set-up - dubbed 'The Cruecifly' - came to a frightening halt on New Year's Eve.

Tommy was left dangling over the audience at the Staples Centre in Los Angeles and backstage crew members rushed to fix the situation.

Tommy made light of the glitch, saying: "It looks like the rollercoaster is broken.

"Well, f*** the rollercoaster! Come on, guys, help. Come get me.

"I can't believe this is happening on the last night. I knew something wasn't right when I took off."

After the crew's desperate bid to fix the coaster failed the drumming legend was forced to climb down and continue the show.

However, despite the glitch, the band didn't seem to let the mishap get to them as they marked 35 years of hell-raising.

Although they have now retired, the group - consisting of Nikki Sixx, Mick Mars, Vince Nei and Tommy - will be back later this year with a film version of their final show.

It was something to see when it worked. Sucked it broke down on the last night when they were filming the final show.

I was at one of their shows and they were performing their last song Kick Start My Heart when suddenly the sound system broke right after they started and it sucked that no one could hear a thing. At least it happened at the end of the show, but they really do kick ass live.

He's a great drummer and has been doing different things with his kit for years. I really loved the revolving box he used to go up in.
