Three bodies have been found in the search for missing former EastEnders actress Sian Blake and her two young children, police have said.

The 43-year-old, who played Frankie Pierre in the hit soap, vanished with her sons Zachary, eight, and Amon, four, in east London on 13 December.

Scotland Yard have launched a murder investigation after the bodies were found at the family home in Erith, Kent.

Detective Superintendent Paul Monk said officers are still searching for Miss Blake's partner and the children's father Arthur Simpson-Kent.

He was interviewed by police at the family's home on 16 December but also disappeared.

Forensic teams were seen searching the property today and neighbours said police had been at the house for several days.

Sky's Joe Tidy, outside the home, said it is believed the bodies were found in the back garden of the property. They have not been formally identified yet but the family has been informed of the discovery.

Det Supt Monk said: "Sadly, as part of a thorough forensic search we are carrying out at the family's home in Erith, we recovered three bodies from the garden of the property.

"As yet, we have not formally identified the bodies but this is of course a significant development and Sian's family have been informed.

"This continues to be a fast-moving investigation and our thoughts are with Sian's family at this time.

"We continue to appeal for any information that could help us trace Sian's partner Arthur Simpson-Kent. If anyone has any information about where he is or his movements since December 16 then please get in touch with us.

"I would also like to ask anyone who may have seen Sian and her children, or who may have information about their movements since the last confirmed sighting on 13 December, to call us."

    Mr Simpson-Kent is a light-skinned black man who is 6ft 2in tall.

Former actress Miss Blake had motor neurone disease - a fatal, rapidly progressing disease that affects the brain and spinal cord - and was reportedly looking "very frail" before she vanished.

She and her children were last seen in Waltham Forest, east London, on 13 December, and her silver-beige Renault Scenic was found in Calvert Avenue in Bethnal Green, east London, on 3 January, but it is not known who parked it there.

Anyone with information is asked to call police on 020 8721 4805 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.

You need to change the title as, after 3 weeks of searching the police have found (their) 3 bodies in her garden, so they are dead not missing.

When the fuck are men going to stop killing their wives and girlfriends?!?! For fucks sake. All these precautions taken to stop 101 ml of liquid soap from getting on a plane when half the population is most at risk of death from the men they sleep beside. It makes me fucking irate.

Last night Ghanian security sources confirmed to the Mirror that Arthur Simpson-Kent arrived in the country on December 19 on a KLM flight

(Metropolitan Police/PA Wire) Missing: Arthur Simpson-Kent, 48, and Amon, four, the partner and son of Sian Blake

The former partner of EastEnders star Sian Blake arrived in Ghana THREE DAYS after he was questioned by police in the UK.

Last night Ghanian security sources confirmed to the Mirror that Arthur Simpson-Kent arrived in the country on December 19 on a KLM flight.

Simpson-Kent is believed to have flown from Glasgow after being interviewed at the family home in Erith, Kent.

The bodies of Sian, 43, and her two children were found buried in the garden of her home 20 days after she was reported missing.

(Metropolitan Police/PA) Children: Sian's sons Zachary and Amon went missing with her

The Met is facing questions over why it took so long for murder detectives to become involved in the case.

The devastating discovery was made yesterday in the garden of the family home in Erith, Kent, that Ms Blake shared with her partner, Simpson-Kent.

Police are now urgently trying to find the 48-year-old, who was last seen three days after his family vanished.

(John McLellan) Grim: Three bodies were found in the garden of the family home

The family of the murdered actress have demanded answers over how long it took police to find the bodies of her and her two children.

Police have referred themselves to the watchdog over their handling of the case after bodies believed to be the star and her two sons were found in her garden.

Sian, 43, was last seen by her family on December 13 but officers only made the grim discovery at her house in Erith, South London, yesterday afternoon.

Sian's aunt, who only gave her name as Terry, told the Evening Standard: "The police did take a long time to find the bodies and the family want answers. Officers are probably trying their best and we know it is difficult but we want a full investigation.

"Sian’s mum is obviously very upset. The police are coming to visit the family today.

"I didn’t know Sian’s partner much and I didn’t realize he is believed to have gone to Africa, but they obviously need to find him quickly."

In a statement, the Met said it had "made a voluntary referral to the Independent Police Complaints Commission in relation to the Sian Blake missing person investigation.

"An initial review has highlighted some potential issues regarding the handling and grading of the missing persons investigation.

"The Directorate of Professional Standards was informed on Monday, 4 January and is working with the investigation team to fully understand the timeline of police interaction with the family."

It comes as a relative of former soap star Sian Blake said her family "want answers" about the police probe.

An aunt, who would only give her name as Terry, told the Evening Standard: "The police did take a long time to find the bodies and the family want answers.

"Officers are probably trying their best and we know it is difficult but we want a full investigation."

    (Rex Images) Tragic: Sian Blake

A teenage daughter of the man wanted for questioning over the murders of ex-EastEnders star Sian Blake and her children says she cannot believe he killed her brothers.

Isis Deblieux’s father Arthur Simpson-Kent arrived in Ghana three days after he was questioned by police about the disappearance of half-brothers Zachary, eight, and Amon, four. They were found murdered in a grave with their mother in their garden.

Speaking from her home in the South of France, Isis, 18, said: “I cannot believe my own father is accused of doing this.

“It is like a stranger killed the two children.”

She added: “I never met the boys. It is very sad.”

Mum Dominique married Simpson- Kent in East London in 1999.

Isis spoke as Miss Blake’s family demanded to know why it took nearly three weeks to find the bodies of her and her missing children in their own back garden.

    Shock: Isis Deblieux

Simpson-Kent is believed to have flown from Glasgow into Ghana after being interviewed at the family home in Erith, Kent.

Motor neurone sufferer Sian, 43, was first reported missing on December 13. The bodies were found on Tuesday.

Scotland Yard admit “potential issues” in the original handling of the case and have already called in the police watchdog.

One of Sian’s aunts, who would only give her name as Terry, said: “Officers are probably trying their best and we know it is difficult but we want a full investigation.”

Tributes from ex-EastEnders stars, including Michael Greco, continued to flow in for Sian, who appeared in the soap from1996 to1997 as Frankie Perry.

Scotland Yard said they were still trying to trace Simpson-Kent “in connection with the deaths”.

(Enterprise photos) Fled country: Arthur Simpson-Kent

Ghanian security sources have confirmed Simpson-Kent had arrived in the West African country on a KLM flight on December 19.

It was three days after he was questioned by police in the UK.

Dominique, 42, told how her former husband turned from a kind gentleman into a violent thug who took steroids, beat her and their daughter and was a member of a black supremacist cult.

The couple met in 1995 when Miss Deblieux moved from her native France to London, to work as a belly dancer.

She said the relationship started off good but he allegedly became a violent steroid-taking image obsessive.

They divorced in 2008 after marrying in 1999 and alleges he left her and their daughter in £40,000 of debt.

She said she finally paid him 500 euros to leave the family home after growing tired of him beating her and Isis and has little contact with him since.

Miss Deblieux said of the “cult”: “It was a religious thing. They said... black people were the first people and white people were a disease... He was obsessed with this nonsense.”

Terrible. I would have thought the police would have kept a better eye on this guy. Maybe it's only in the US where if a woman and her children go missing, suspect numero uno is the husband/boyfriend/kids daddy.

very sad. So, they interviewed this guy in the family home and then found the bodies in the back yard/garden of that house? Damn, didn't the cops take a peek at the house and yard?

My guess is he killed them elsewhere or else hid them until the cops already searched their yard, then dumped them all.

No that is usually the situation here too but I think they just made a bit of a mistake in this case.

Good news that they have arrested him.

Didn't notice you being equally irate when a woman killed her husband & had his body sat on the patio for nearly 20 years.

Sian Blake: Partner held in Ghana over EastEnders actress's murder - BBC News

(BBC Pictures) Arthur Simpson-Kent was arrested hidden amongst some rocks along the coast of Ghana

The partner of a former EastEnders actress who was murdered alongside her two young sons has been arrested in Ghana.

Arthur Simpson-Kent, 48, was detained earlier, two days after the Ghanaian police began their hunt for him.

The bodies of Sian Blake, 43, Zachary, eight, and Amon, four, were discovered in the garden of their London home on Tuesday.

The family had been reported missing on 16 December.

The Met Police said it had been "made aware of an arrest in Ghana" and was "working alongside the Ghanaian authorities but is not in a position to discuss further at this time".

BBC correspondent Alastair Leithead, who is in Ghana, said Mr Simpson-Kent was arrested in a coastal area popular with tourists.

"Around 10 police officers went down to the beach where he was spotted hiding amongst some rocks and the police, who were all armed, called out to him," he said.

"He gave himself up and they found that he had a knife on him, but he didn't use it in a threatening way.

"He was then taken to a nearby village where police thanked the people who had informed them he was in this area."

Mr Leithead said the arrest involved Met and Ghanaian Police as well as officers from Interpol.

(Blake Family) Zachary, eight, and four year old Amon were last seen on 13 December with their mother

Sian Blake played Frankie Pierre in EastEnders in 1996 and 1997

Mr Simpson-Kent, the children's father, arrived in Ghana on 19 December, with the country's police force becoming involved in the hunt for him on Thursday.

Ghanaian Police had initially been sent to the Cape Coast in the south of the country - where the extended Simpson family is from - as well as to other parts of the Atlantic shoreline.

Ms Blake and the couple's sons had not been seen at their south-east London home since 13 December and a missing persons inquiry launched on 16 December, after the NSPCC had raised concerns about their welfare.

    Timeline

    • 13 December: Sian Blake is last seen in Waltham Forest, east London, with her sons Zachary, eight, and Amon, four.
    • 16 December: Police visit her home in Erith and speak to Mr Simpson-Kent. This is the last time he is seen.
    • 3 January: Miss Blake's car is found in Bethnal Green, east London
    • 5 January: Bodies found at her home in Erith, south east London
    • 6 January: Police announce Mr Simpson-Kent is thought to have traveled to Ghana
    • 8 January: Sian Blake and her two sons are confirmed dead

The Met Police spoke to Mr Simpson-Kent on 16 December, but that was the last time he was seen.

A subsequent search of the family home in Erith, south east London, on 5 January uncovered three bodies in the garden.

The actress and her two sons had died from neck and head injuries, post-mortem tests revealed.

Ms Blake's sister Ava Blake spoke last week about how she believed the actress had wanted to leave her boyfriend.

She said: "It's my nephews more than anything. My brother is angry. My cousins are angry.

(PA) Ava (left) and Pansy Blake are the sister and mother of murdered actress Sian Blake

(Family picture) Ms Blake had motor neurone disease and her family said her relationship with Mr Simpson-Kent had deteriorated

"They are angry about Sian, but the boys have devastated us. We have lost a generation. We can never replace them."

She said her sister had been "a lot more quiet" over the past year and had asked to move back home.

"In our opinion the relationship had already come to an end but she hadn't quite made that break or that decision to leave Arthur," she said.

Ms Blake, who had motor neurone disease, had played Frankie Pierre in 56 episodes of EastEnders between 1996 and 1997.

The Met has been criticized over delays in its investigation and is being investigated by the police watchdog, the Independent Police Complaints Commission.

Luckily there is an extradition treaty between the UK and Ghana. They just have to go through due process.
