Sandra Bullock Is a Mom Again! Meet Her Adorable Daughter, Laila

Oscar winner Sandra Bullock opens up for the first time about fostering and adopting her 3-year-old daughter, Laila. Subscribe now for instant access to the exclusive interview, plus the adorable family photos of Laila and brother Louis, or pick up PEOPLE on newsstands Friday!

Sandra Bullock is a proud mom times two!

The Oscar winner, 51, reveals exclusively to PEOPLE in this weeks issue that she has adopted a daughter, 3-year-old Laila (pronounced Lila), a little girl from Louisiana who had been in foster care.

When I look at Laila, theres no doubt in my mind that she was supposed to be here, says Bullock, who adopted son Louis, 5, in 2010.

I can tell you absolutely, the exact right children came to me at the exact right time, she adds.

The process of expanding her family began three years ago, with Louis helping to lead the way.

Louis spearheaded this whole journey, she says, and while the two siblings have since formed an inseparable bond, Bullock says the first stages of bringing Laila home required patience and plenty of reassurance.

I knew she was scared, and all I wanted was for her to know Louis and I werent going anywhere, she says of her daughter, who has brought pink and glitter in the house mixed with Legos and Batmans.

In new family photos featured in PEOPLE, taken by L.A. photographer Bryan Randall, whom Bullock has been dating, the star who hopes to shine a light on the 415,129 children currently in foster care in the U.S. reveals the playful dynamic she shares with her two children.

My family is blended and diverse, nutty, and loving and understanding, she says. Thats a family.

Lego, not Legos! You don't say sheeps or fishes.

We call them Legos, always have!

I'm so glad that Sandra adopted a child out of foster care. I wish more people would. There are so many kids out there looking for a forever home, especially minority kids. Good for her.

Was it her denying adoption a couple of months ago?

I love the puff ball hairstyle on little girls. They remind me of little teddy bears.

According to Lego themselves, the plural is "Lego bricks".

My family always used legos....as in 'pick these damn legos up off the floor before someone breaks their neck!!'....and 'if you kids don't pick up these legos now I am throwing them in the garbage!!'

When I step on them in the middle of the night, they're called "fucking legos"

Just kidding, I've yet to step on them in the middle of the night. The little dried pieces of play-doh are what really hurt.

Good for her for adopting a toddler and not an infant. I guess she didn't really lie before, she said something about Louis being the only child she's officially adopted, or something like that. I guess she was fostering Laila.

Can anyone imagine what it's like to be in foster care, from what was probably a nice and modest home and then being adopted, living in a mansion with a very rich real mom and brother? I can't even imagine what it was like for Madonna or Jolie Pitt kids or any third world kids. How do they process it?

This is just one of her homes.

Does anyone else think it's interesting that they chose a cover photo where her daughter isn't even showing her face?

I'm always thinking that wouldn't it be weird to give your baby up for adoption and then seeing a celebrity adopt them?! You could kind of keep tabs on them by just Googling them!

Most adoptions these days have an element of openness.

Bella- I noticed that too and wondered if Sandra is trying to shield her right now> I wonder if they show her face in other pictures for the article.
