Default Sheryl Sandberg posts tribute to her late husband

    "Dave was my rock"

Sheryl Sandberg, the Facebook executive whose husband died suddenly on May 2, posted a moving tribute Tuesday to her late husband.
David Goldberg, the 47-year-old CEO of SurveyMonkey, died after suffering severe head trauma while exercising at a resort in Punta Mita, a state official in Mexico saidthis week, the Associated Press reports. He was found next to a treadmill in a pool of blood and later died at a hospital.
“We had 11 truly joyful years of the deepest love, happiest marriage, and truest partnership that I could imagine,” Sandberg wrote of Goldberg. See the full post here:

you know she's already working on a new book - 'leaning into widowhood'.

this really sucks though. i feel for her and their kids, i know exactly what they're going through.

It's very sad, and the circumstances around the death are kind of strange. It sounded at one point, like the hotel was contesting whether he was actually killed by a mishap with the treadmill. A coworker and I were even watching treadmill accidents on YouTube trying to figure out how he could possibly get this badly injured on one.

This is a lovely tribute though. I do wonder what actually happened here.

This passage has interesting stat on how prevalent treadmill injuries are:

David Goldberg death highlights risks of treadmills | Health - WCVB Home

Treadmills account for the majority of such exercise equipment injuries, Janessa M. Graves, a professor at the College of Nursing at Washington State University, told The Washington Post. In a study of 1,782 injury reports from 2007-2011, she found that treadmill machines comprise 66 percent of the injuries.

I think weird causes of death are more frequent than we know. Because of my line of work, I see a lot of death claims. One person fell down the stairs while carrying his laptop, which ended up slicing his neck and him bleeding out.

Another slipped and fell near his glass coffee table - another bleed out.

Another one - lady was carrying her grandson while walking around the edge of her pool. Heart attack, fell in, both drowned.

Bleargh, sad shit happens all the time, its just not posted in the papers.

My impression was that he collapsed while on the treadmill --heart attack? aneurysm? stroke? -- and then sustained the head injury. Not that he just fell.
    Horrible in any case.
