PRIDE, LA (WAFB) - Family members say Donna Douglas passed away Thursday morning at the age of 81, at her home in Zachary, LA, with family members by her side.
Douglas was an actress, best known for her role as Elly May Clampett, the only daughter of Jed Clampett, in the CBS television series The Beverly Hillbillies.
In 2011, Douglas sued toy manufacturer Mattel Inc., claiming the company used her name and likeness for a Barbie doll without authorization. The suit was settled.
She was born in 1933, in Pride, LA.
Douglas attended St. Gerard High School, a Roman Catholic school, where she played softball and basketball. She was a member of the school's first graduating class.
She was a "Miss Baton Rouge" and was named "Miss New Orleans" in 1957.

Donna Douglas was the star of one of the most well-known Twilight Zone episodes - "Eye of the Beholder". Great, great episode with a heck of a finale: "No change. No change at all!!!"

^ I didn't know that!! I learned something new today. Anyway, I loved watching The Beverly Hillbillies as a kid! I identified with the character Elly May a lot because I was a tomboy. I also had this immense love for critters and I always brought some animal home to my parents' dismay. Man, this makes me so sad. RIP Ms. Douglas.

I went on a Twilight Zone bender yesterday and watched "The Eye of the Beholder" and was once again blown away on what a knockout she was. I love everyone's reactions to her horrible, horrible face.

RIP Elly May. Poor Jethro is the only one left.
I am going to come and burn the fucking house down... but you will blow me first."
