People reports that Eileen Ford, who co-founded the Ford Modeling Agency, has died; she was 92. Ford was an industry pioneer who was behind the early careers of supermodels like Naomi Campbell, Christy Turlington, Jean Shrimpton, Lauren Hutton, and Brooke Shields. (Even the list of those she rejected is impressive; it includes Grace Kelly and Marisa Berenson.) The Long Island native and her husband, Jerry, co-founded the agency in 1946 and worked to ameliorate the working conditions of models. Her biography, Model Woman, is due out next year.

This site won't let me c&P ^ if anyone can do it please, feel free to post it. It scrambles the whole article. This clip, is so spot-on:
“They have to account for their time to me,” she said in a Forbes article on the industry in 1984. “They eat dinner with me, at table, every night. I don’t ever want to tell a mother I don’t know where her daughter is at 2 a.m.”
    Really, RIP, Eileen.

^ I tried to post it as well. That posting glitch is coming back.

I would like to read some obituary quotes from her models.

There are some comments on that NYT article from people who knew her. Fascinating. I wish there were someone around today that would keep models away from the perv-y Terry Richardson.

A friend of mine worked for her for several years and he ADORED her. Said she was a true class act.
