Default Robin Williams in Rehab Facility to Maintain Sobriety

Robin Williams is at a rehab facility again ...but his people tell TMZ it's NOT because he fell off the wagon.

Williams is at Hazelden Addiction Treatment Center near Lindstrom, Minnesota.

Robin is in a part of the facility called
The Lodge -- there are lots of fancy descriptions, but it's essentially a program to maintain long-term sobriety.

    We're told Robin will be
    staying for several weeks.

The pic (above) was taken Sunday at a Dairy Queen ... walking distance from Hazelden.

    Robin has
struggled with addiction for decades. He cold turkeyed cocaine and alcohol in the early 1980s and was sober for 20 years ... then fell off the wagon. He went to rehab in 2006.

    Robin's
rep tells TMZ, "After working back-to-back projects, Robin is simply taking the opportunity to fine-tune and focus on his continued commitment, of which he remains extremely proud."

Is it me or does he look quite thin, not in a good way?

He looks like he's on the meth wagon (or off the meth wagon? whichever is the bad one)

He's lost some weight, but he wont ever lose any of that hair. Looks aged and sad.

I've always thought Robin Williams strongly resembled my dad (r.i.p.). They both lack an upper lip. My dad covered it with a mustache, so I've always thought Robin Williams should grow a mustache. I don't get the whole 'maintaining sobriety" thing. If he's been sober for years and continues to be sober, why suddenly enter a rehab facility?

Because he's not sober. But doesn't want to say so probably due to work prospects.

I don't know how convincing it is, but yeah.

I greatly dislike when TMZ "reports"/publishes this type of information about people/celebrities. "This person is in rehab / "They are at this exact rehab location" / "Our 'insider' says it's because of this and that" etc... (or any other media outlet, though a majority of it stems from TMZ).

Yeah, they (celebrities) "sign-up" for this kind of life-having to live their life publicly, but there should be some kind of law that protects (or attempts to protect) information about health/well-being/medical treatment/rehab treatment/whathaveyou...

I don't know, those are just my thoughts...
I don't need to/want to know that type of information... I feel like publicizing celeb's getting treatment makes it harder for them to overcome whatever it is they are trying to overcome. If they want to talk about it later, cool - that's their choice. But at least give them the respect and privacy to focus on themselves and not worry about what the media is releasing....

Damn, he sure is skinny. I agree with you SoCal. It's almost like public humiliation for trying to do the right thing. :-(

I know he looks awful but I hope he's in rehab for all the right reasons, regardless of what they are. I love Robin.

i love robin too but you can tell the self-destruction is right there under the surface, even when he's been sober for a while.

I adore Robin but become anxious when I watch him. It's as if he is afraid that if he stops talking, he will be forced to deal with his pain.
