This past fall, Toronto rapper Drake was named the global ambassador for his hometown NBA team, the Raptors. He has now also become the public face of lint-rolling.

Drake was the talk of Twitter on Tuesday night when he pulled out a lint roller and started zealously removing the lint from his pants while sitting courtside during the Raptors’ first-round playoff game agains the Brooklyn Nets.

It takes a lot to be the most talked-about Canadian celebrity at a sporting event also attended by Rob Ford, but that is exactly what Drake accomplished. There were plenty of jokes, and quite a few references to the rapper’s song “Started from the bottom.”

(Ford, by the way, broke his curse: He attended the game wearing the home team’s jersey, and the home team won, tying the series 1-1.)

Drake is a regular presence at Raptors games and was “heavily involved” in the inspiration for the video for the team’s “We The North” campaign.

If the Raptors advance past the first round, expect to see more of Drake, but don’t expect the team to pay much notice.

“Believe me I don’t think about who’s in the stands, who’s sitting next to me,” coach Dwane Casey said prior to Game 2. “Drake’s over there yelling at referees and I hear him but I don’t see him. So my mind is on the court.
