Default Sylvester Stallone: 'Bruce Willis is greedy and lazy'

With so much testosterone coursing through the veins of The Expendables actors, some sort of a breakdown in relations was perhaps inevitable. And while the gloves are not fully off yet, Sylvester Stallone has landed a couple of verbal jabs on the nose of the departing Bruce Willis.

Stallone greeted the news that Willis had been replaced in The Expendables 3 by Indiana Jones star Harrison Ford with unashamed delight. Writing on Twitter, he said: "WILLIS OUT ... HARRISON FORD IN !!!! GREAT NEWS !!!!! Been waiting years for this!!!!" Just five minutes later, he then launched his attack, which his PR has confirmed was aimed at Willis: "GREEDY AND LAZY ...... A SURE FORMULA FOR CAREER FAILURE."

Willis played the role of Church in the first two films but it has not yet been announced what part Ford, 71, will have in the third film, which is due for release in August 2014. The Expendables 3 will also star Jason Statham, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Jackie Chan. Australian film maker Patrick Hughes (Red Hill) is the director.

The first two films, which follow a group of elite mercenaries led by Stallone, were major box office hits, earning a combined $575 million worlwide.

Ford also recently announced that he would be keen to play Indiana Jones for the fifth time. He explained to The Telegraph that he thoughtthe hero's return was "entirely appropriate". Whether Willis feels the same about Stallone's comments, however, remains to be seen.

oh gawd, they have to make a third one?? I watched the second recently, and it was horribad. Not bad in a "fun" way, just an incredibly soul-destroying way to spend an hour and a half. JCVD was the lone bright spot, and it was laughable that Stallone could have kicked his ass. With no JCVD, I am OUT on this next one!

The second one should never have been made. Please stop this crap. Although, Van Damme made it worth my while. He is my new hero atm, he was uber cool.

Uh yeah Sly, because Willis is SUCH a career failure. Geesh, he sounds like a jealous high school girl. Unintentionally funny and really stupid. Of course, that describes Stallone himself extremely well, along with "looks like a mutant."

I'm more shocked that Harrison Ford is 71. When the heck did that happen?

If another Indiana film is getting made, they'd best shoot George Lucas first. And kill off Shia.

"Lazy" is the last word i'd use to describe Bruce; he's in half of the movies I've watched the last five years. Dude might be a workaholic.

I've only watched half of the first Expendables film and had to give it up as a bad job. Stallone can say what he wants about Bruce Willis but at least I didn't have to turn on the subtitles to understand what he was saying. Ol' Sly has always mumbled but in that film I found him incomprehensible.

I wonder if Jean Claude is still with Gladys Portugues? They were married and then divorced, I think, and then got back together again.

When I saw it, the first thing I thought was that my dad passed away at 73. I'm very happy that Ford is 71 and still wants to be in the game. As long as his character isn't doing ridiculous physical feats that a 71 year-old has no business doing.

Wonder if Harrison will wear his earring during filming....that was the funniest, most random thing to me... when he pierced that baby.
