Default Elton John and David Furnish expecting second child via surrogate

Another one on the way! Elton John, 65, and David Furnish, 50, set to welcome second child via a surrogate

They were overjoyed to welcome their son Zachary into the world on Christmas Day in 2010.

And now Sir Elton John, 65, and David Furnish are set to become parents for the second time, according to reports in The Sun.

The paper reports the showbiz couple are expecting their newest addition to the family next year via a surrogate, thought to be the same one that gave birth to their 23-month old son.

Another one on the way: Sir Elton John and David Furnish are said to be expecting their second child via a surrogate next year

A source told The Sun: 'They are over the moon'.

And speaking about the surrogate they said: 'Elton and David love this lady like a sister and they feel indebted to her for life.'
'Naturally she has been well rewarded. But her identity will never be revealed.'
A spokesperson for Elton was not available for comment on Saturday morning.

The Rocket Man singer has been vocal about his wish to give Zachary a sibling.

The apple of their eye: Elton has openly talked about wanting a sibling for his son Zachary

Speaking to the Radio Times in August he said: 'We definitely will have another one. At what stage we don't know, but we definitely will. I don't want him to be an only child.’

In the interview Elton acknowledged that Zachary would have a difficult time growing up not just because of his father's fame but also because of their unconventional family set up.

He noted: 'Being the child of someone famous is a huge ball and chain around your ankles. It's going to be very difficult.’

‘At school other children will say, “You don't have a mummy”. We've come a long way, but there's still homophobia and will be until a new generation of parents don't instill it in their children.’
To conceive their first son sperm from both men was mixed to fertilise the chosen egg – a process banned in the UK – and the child was carried by a surrogate.

Isn't Elton a little too old to be doing this now though? It's hard losing a parent young.

That baby is adorable! What do they mean by mixed the sperm? They combined it so that they would not know who the father was? Or does it mean they somehow messed with the DNA? I have only heard of them doing this with eggs like this: Babies with THREE parents could be born within two years if controversial IVF technique gets go-ahead | Mail Online
...The first baby with three biological parents could be conceived next year after the Government announced a major review of Britain’s fertility laws.
The move would allow doctors to use a revolutionary IVF technique that prevents incurable, deadly genetic illnesses being passed down from mothers to their children.
Babies created with the therapy – called three-parent IVF – would inherit 98 per cent of their DNA from their ‘real’ parents. The rest would come from a female donor...

    How old is Elton's partner?

They had better snap it up, that baby looks faintly critical! He will running their life very shortly.
I am sure the surrogate is set for life, but look at the joy she has given them. Fair trade.
As far as age, they are pushing it, but David will probably be around at least 20 years.
The only part that bothers me is that it is usually in your 30's when parents advice, etc start really registering.
I hope they do like Cary Grant and leave tons of vidoes & advice for the future.

I certainly hope the baby is being carried by a surrogate....

It's great that they want a second child and don't want little Zach to be the only child.

Congrats to them, but I sort of wish they had done this ten years ago. Losing one parent while your in your twenties is terrible and these kids stand to lose both.
