Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen were awarded one of the top prizes at Monday night’s Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) Awards in New York. The twins took home the prize for Womenswear Designer of the Year, while Johnny Depp also won the Fashion Icon Award.
“I'd like to thank you — you,” Mary-Kate told the audience as she turned to Ashley, who was standing by her side, notes The Associated Press. The two were recognized for their work for their own collection, The Row. The Help actress Jessica Chastain presented the Olsens their award.
Us Weekly reports that Mary-Kate also debuted a new brunette hair color. The color change comes a few days after it was confirmed that she is dating Olivier Sarkozy, former French President Nicolas Szarkozy’s 42-year-old brother.
As E! News notes, Depp won the Fashion Icon Award, but was not able to accept. Instead, his Cry-Baby director, John Waters, picked up the award for him.
Other celebrities were on hand to present awards, including Mad Men actress Jessica Pare and White Collar’s Matt Bomer. Pare handed Reid Krakoff the accessories designer of the year award, while Bromer presented Billy Reid with Menswear designer of the year.
