" The show is not promoting incest or child molestation. . The kid was vet young, did a bad thing. . Was dealt with as the family saw fit. . If he had smoked, and then quit, would you ask that the show be cancelled for promoting tobacco use? . Seriously people, get over yourselves. . Act like adults. "

Comparing molestation to cigarette smoking. I'd love to take a lit cigarette and put it out in Josh's eye!
Maybe not "promoting"...just hiding and sweeping under the rug, and then deflecting and trying to justify when brought to light. Amma-right?!?! And the cig smoking comparison just makes me want to weep for the stupidity of some people.

I'm totally down for the cigarette to the eye idea. Let's start a petition!

I've seen a lot of Duggar defenders using the 'Oh, he was only a child! Kids do stupid things!' excuse and I find it laughable. I think we all know that if it was their child that had been molested by him, they wouldn't be saying that or excepting that as an excuse. Same as if a 14 yo boy touched another boy, would they still use that same excuse? HELL no!

I except that kids do stupid things but this isn't just a one off incident, it seems like he started off by touching their breasts while they were asleep, then he moved on to the vaginal area then he started to touch them while they were awake. There's a progression there which suggests that he may well have done more than what they are saying he did. If he did actually rape one of the girls, the Duggars aren't going to admit that because then the girl would not be 'pure' and no one would want her.

In fact, in light of all this coming out, I bet Michelle and Jim are panicking because they still have girls in the family that aren't married yet, it wouldn't surprise me if in their weird community the remaining Duggar girls will be seen as 'tainted' and therefore people won't want to court or marry them. I am guessing that's one of the reasons why none of the girls wanted to take things further with the police, probably because they feared how they would be perceived and sadly a lot of people, from what I've seen, are levelling blame at the girls as they must have done something provocative or led him on in some way.

Most of these people are hypocrites who have previously called for all molestors to receive the death penalty, now one of their own is outed they're suddenly making all kinds of ridiculous excuses. If this does end up blowing over, which I hope it doesn't, in a few months/years time these people who are defending Josh and the Duggars will be back to calling for the death penalty for all child molestors again.

That sin is sin bullshit really gets under my skin. That's like saying there's no difference between the Petit rape/torture/murders and a kid that swipes a candy bar from the store. FULL. OF. SHIT.

JimBob tried to fix it himself when he found out. Tried talking to Josh, but he kept doing it. Tried taking him to the elders of the church where he confessed and 'repented' but he kept doing it. His last ditch efforts included taking him to this cop for an 'off the record' conversation and a 'stern talking to' to try and scare him straight. He also sent him to a Gothard camp and a 3-month stint working with a Gothardite where he worked on building a house. That's all the help Josh got.

Incidentally, the cop who's now in jail on child porn charges says that JB didn't tell the truth about the extent of the things Josh had done, so that's why he didn't report and take it further. Weirdly, never thought I'd say I believe this convicted sex offender! I think it really was just a "scare him straight and make him stop" move on JB's part, and not any real effort to actually fix the problem.

I feel very worried for the children Josh now has. His dimwit wife seems to back him all the way (imho) even if that means popping out more victims for him.

    Duggar Breaking News:
    Disgraced Cop Who
    Didn’t Report
    Molestation Shoots
    Down Jim Bob’s Story

The disgraced Arkansas state trooper who was first alerted to the Josh Duggar molestation allegations is contradicting the story Jim Bob Duggar later told Springdale, Ark., police, In Touch Weekly is reporting exclusively in the new issue that goes on sale today.
In 2006, Jim Bob told Springdale police that he took Josh to see State Trooper Joseph Hutchens and that Josh “admitted to Hutchens what [Josh, redacted] had done,” according to the police report, obtained exclusively by In Touch through the Freedom of Information Act. At this point, there were five victims and multiple molestations by Josh.

But Hutchens, in his only interview since the Duggar scandal has been uncovered, says that Jim Bob told him about only one incident of molestation and that, in part, is why he decided not to report Josh to the abuse hotline.
Hutchens is serving 56 years in prison for child pornography and admits his “reputation is shot.” He was interviewed by a representative of a local law firm at In Touch's request and promised nothing in return for his recollections.

Hutchens' failure to report the abuse caused the police to halt their 2006 investigation because the statute of limitations ran out.
In the new interview from prison, Hutchens said he was told by Jim Bob and Josh that “Josh had inappropriately touched [redacted] during the time she was asleep. He said he touched her through her clothing and he said it only happened one time.”
He said the fact that it was a one-time incident influenced his decision not to report it. “I did what I thought was right and obviously it wasn’t,” he says. “If I had to do it over again, I would have told him immediately I am going to call the hotline and contacted the trooper that worked those cases and have a full report made. I thought I could handle it myself.

“I have lost a lot of sleep over it. I am a Christian myself and I worry that something else may have happened. I would be responsible for it, in my opinion, by not reporting it. The young girl should have been my first priority.”

As per the police report posted earlier:

    1. These incidents occurred when Josh was 14 and went on for some years (I'm not clear on whether it started earlier or finished a bit later) but the specific incidents looked into in the police report only detail the ones that happened when he was 14.
    2. As I said in my previous post, JB handled it originally by himself, first talking to Josh, then taking him before the church elders (to confess and 'repent), then taking him to see mr. pedophile cop and sending him to a Gothard camp & to do slave labour work experience. By the end of all that, he considered the matter settled. Whether or not Josh continued after that, no one except them knows.
    3. In 2006, the Duggars went to film a segment with Oprah. Someone who was 'in the know' sent Harpo Productions an email around that time warning them that the Duggars are liars and that Josh is a child molestor. That email is included in the police report. Harpo Productions forwarded that email on and then the police got involved (officially).
    4. The allegations about the incidents that occurred when Josh was 14 were investigated, and that's why we have the police reports.
    5. But since JB was very good to keep Josh away from any real help or 'secular justice' until the statute of limitations expired (3 years in Arkansas), the police report exists, but Josh received no punishment.
    6. To this day it seems Josh got no counselling to make him stop, so perhaps we just cross our fingers and hope that he just decided to stop molesting children on his own. Also his victims did not receive any counselling or help.

There was this cult in Bavaria that was raided and children were taken out because a reporter secretly filmed parents and kindergarten teachers beating them. Also I read that Jim Bob has anger issues and Michelle also seems rather selfish and cold hearted.

The Duggars have previously endorsed the Pearl's book "To Train up a Child" on their website (wayback machine link here: Amazon Blitz - The Duggar Family ).

Of course this book has been linked to quite a few child deaths because it advocates breaking the "will" of children by hitting them with various things including plumbing wire, switches, pinching hair-pulling and hitting infants to "break them". In the book it even specifies specifically the exact measure (length, width, material) of the punishing implements. The Pearl's also advocate "blanket training" to make babies submit to you, which the Duggars admitted that they used on their first special (the 14 kids one, forgot the whole title). Blanket training of course (briefly), is where you put a baby on a blanket and then use various methods to entice the baby to move off the blanket, then you hit it with a ruler or another implement. Eventually the baby learns never to move off the blanket by itself.

This is plumbing wire. If I ever saw someone using this on a child I'd garotte them with it.

You start small. A gluestick is used to beat infants. (full 12 inch gluesticks) Then you move up to a length of PVC tubing. I am not making this up.
