Robin Gibb had been ill for some time
Bee Gees' singer Robin Gibb has died following a lengthy battle with cancer, his family have said.
British-born Gibb, 62, had been battling colon and liver cancer.
Gibb's musical career began when he formed the Bee Gees with his brothers Barry and Maurice in 1958.
The group is among the biggest-selling groups of all time with hits spanning six decades including Stayin' Alive, How Deep Is Your Love, Massachusetts and Night Fever.

Quite a few big music stars have died this year.
R.I.P Robin. This was on the cards for a while, but still, such a shame. Far too early for him. Hope he's catching up with Maurice

I feel like Music is dying right in front of our eyes. So sad. Those brothers made some great music. If you get a chance, check out videos of them singing live on Youtube. Gorgeous voices, great songwriters.
RIP, Robin. I know he must have suffered quite a bit of late and I'm glad he's at peace now. Their poor mom, though. And the brother who is left--that must be so painful.
