Britney Spears Rejects $10M Bid to Judge 'X Factor' - She Wants $20M!

Britney Spears has rejected a $10 million offer to judge the next season of “The X Factor,” TheWrap has learned.
So the question is: How much is Fox going to have to pony up? Try $20 million.

Reports this week that the pop star was considering a $10 million offer to judge next fall’s seasons of “The X Factor” are out of date, according to a knowledgeable individual in Spears’ camp.

The singer rejected that offer three weeks ago and is instead thinking about an offer to become a resident performer at a Las Vegas hotel in the fall, a la Celine Dion.
So here comes a game of chicken. Fox desperately needs a big name to announce on the judge’s panel of Simon Cowell’s show, now that NBC’s hit show “The Voice” will be competing with them in the fall.
Spears’ camp wants $20 million. (EvenI think that’s ridiculous and Fox won’t pay that.)
But the reality is it’s becoming an arms race for singing talent being paid to sit behind tables and… talk.
NBC has put its money where its mouth is, paying Christina Aguilera upward of $10 million to come back and judge the new season of “The Voice.” They’ve given handsome paychecks, if not as much, to the other judges as well.

What Fox has shelled out for the “X Factor” judges pales in comparison. Paula Abdul was paid $2.5 million for the last season, according to another knowledgeable insider, and she was announced at the 11th hour.
She was also fired, as were judge Nicole Scherzinger and host Steve Jones.
“X Factor” is already recording its audition phase, but won’t need the judges until the end of May.
Fox wouldn't comment. Spears' camp wouldn't comment. Simon Cowell's camp wouldn't comment.
But what the network wants is a big piece of news to present to advertisers at their upfront sales presentations on May 14.
Where does this game of chicken end? Somewhere in between, I would imagine.
Editor's note: An earlier version of this story incorrectly said Spears had been offered to host "X Factor." She was offered to judge the show. TheWrap regrets the error.

I am a Britney fan, but $20 million to sit behind a table once a week and talk is ridiculous.

I love Britney and she really does/did have the x-factor but somehow I do not see her team letting her go on live tv for weeks in a row. I don't buy it.

It would be so boring yet "a gift that keeps on giving" to see her there, with her dead eyes and only saying "cool", "fun" and "yay" barely forming a sentence.

Maybe that's why they countered with such a ridiculous number...that way her people can say they couldn't come to a financial agreement, rather than admit that Brit-brit wouldn't be able to handle the job? I'm just speculating.

I don't think she could do it either---regardless of the money. The mentoring shit and showing up for LIVE shows...it'd be too much for her. But hey, prove me wrong Brit! I'd watch to see the trainwreck!

And a side note: PLEASE do NOT hire LeAnn Rimes. We all know the reasons why. OH wait--maybe it would be a good thing. Gives Eddie more time to fuck around. Ok, I could get on board with that. But not 10 mill. No way.

Britney and Leann in the panel together? Id watch.

What is Simon trying to do here anyway, compile all the washed up has beens and have them judge? Next thing hes going to call up some of the girls from Cleopatra and maybe even the Spice Girls. Why stop there? Bring back N'Sync and the Backstreet Boys! One person from each group please.

X17 EXCLUSIVE - LeAnn Rimes In Negotiations For X Factor Judging Spot

Posted on Thu Mar 8, 2012 09:55 AM PDT

LeAnn Rimes is getting close to nabbing a judging spot on The X Factor, X17online can report exclusively.
Sources involved with the negotiations say that the 29-year-old songstress spent all day yesterday in a meeting with the X Factor producers. We're told it was a "great meeting."
Although Simon Cowell was not present in the meeting, we're told he had a hand in getting LeAnn to sit down with producers.
The "How Do I Live" singer has eighteen years of experience in the music biz, a huge fan base (and yet is practically unknown outside the US) and deep roots in country. Being the youngest Grammy winner in history at the age of 14, seems like she's exactly what The X Factor needs.
LeAnn will find out whether she's landed the multi-million dollar gig within the next three weeks.
Others who are gunning for a judging spot include Britney Spears and Beyonce. However, both singers have yet to meet with producers.
Two judging spots were left vacant after Paula Abdul and Nicole Scherzinger were let go after last season.

This is one post where a "Cut a Bitch" tag would be useful. Of course, LeMann really isn't doing anything else right now except tailing Eddie.

It makes no sense to hire LeAnn because she DOESN'T, and never did, have the X Factor. That's evidenced by her failing career now. She performs in casinos and at county fairs, and even then they have trouble filling the seats. LeAnn had a powerful voice at a young age. But when the industry started to change and you needed more than just a good voice to succeed, her career fizzled out, because she didn't have that spark to keep people interested. She's a one trick pony. She sings. She can't dance, she doesn't have the looks, she doesn't have the charm or the sparkle... Unless the 'X-Factor' refers to vocal ability only, LeAnn doesn't have it. Hiring her would completely scratch the credibility of the show, unless they do it from the angle of "I want to help you because I never had the X Factor and it cost me my career."

We were, now it's un-hacked. Mine is back to normal. Or as normal as it gets!

If she can't fill venues with 1100- to 1500 capacity.....

Maybe if she actually promoted her stuff, showed up for gigs instead of quitting them with a fake illness & did all the stuff that musicians normally do to gets sales she'd be ok, but all she does is trail around trying to keep Eddie's dick from falling into stray women & stalking his ex-wife....
