Default Dr Conrad Murray helps passenger in plane emergency

BBC News - Jackson doctor helps passenger in plane emergency

The doctor accused of giving a fatal dose of anaesthetic to Michael Jackson has come to the rescue of a woman who fell unconscious on a plane.

Dr Conrad Murray responded when cabin crew asked if a doctor was on board a US Airways flight, US media said.

He put her on an intravenous drip from the plane's emergency kit after finding her pulse was weak, reports said.

Dr Murray has pleaded not guilty to involuntary manslaughter in the death of Michael Jackson last year.

    'You probably know me'

Dr Murray was flying from Houston to Phoenix when the 23-year-old woman fainted.

"We're not surprised," said a spokeswoman for Dr Murray.

"He's a good doctor, we've always said he was a good doctor, and that's what good doctors do is save people," Associated Press news agency quoted Miranda Sevcik as saying.

The plane diverted to Albuquerque, New Mexico, where the woman and her 11-month-old baby were taken off the flight for further treatment.

The story was first reported by entertainment website TMZ and later confirmed by Dr Murray's legal team.

US Airways said a doctor on the flight had helped stabilise a woman who had had a medical emergency but did not name the doctor, AP said.

The woman, who has not been named, told TMZ that when she regained consciousness the doctor was standing over her and said: "You probably know me... I was Michael Jackson's doctor."

Dr Murray is alleged to have administered a lethal dose of Propofol and other drugs, which resulted in the pop star's death on 25 June last year.

He remains free on bail pending his trial.

I work in healthcare and would assume that she was in dire need of fluids.

    Or, this was staged.

But, would not a person be scared to have Dr. Conrad Murray come at you with an IV drip? Maybe it is just me

    ^^
I wouldn't put it past Murray's team to have staged this much like they did his 'compassionate' visit to Michael's tomb.

Murray isn't fully accountable for Michael's death. He was but one of many enablers including Michael himself. That's about as easy as I'll go on him.

    this came from TMZ:
TMZ spoke with the woman, who tells us she got lightheaded on the flight and "fainted for like 30 minutes." She says when she regained consciousness, she had an IV in her arm and Murray was standing over her. She says he told her, "You probably know me ... I was Michael Jackson's doctor."

first, who faints for 30 minutes, THEN finds the time to chat with TMZ?

second, I would have been scared shitless to wake up and see Murray in my face saying 'i'm Michael Jackson's Doctor' LOL

Whatever. Any number of people I know in the medical field would have done the same thing in a pinch. And still know better than to administer what he did to MJ.

All of this but especially the part about waking up to find Dr. Reaper standing over me. And who the hell would say, "You probably know me...blah blah blah?"

Why would anyone admit to being MJ's doctor.. especially the one that killed him? This sounds so fake. Either it was staged or it really did happen and Conrad Murray jumped at the idea of turning this into a publicity stunt... which means the woman was probably paid to praise him.

Thats what pinged my BS radar. All MDs I know are aware that they are protected by the Good Samaritan law.... but only to an extent. In that situation, you really don't want to go out of your way to advertise who you are. Just because. People are lawsuit happy- its like trying your luck. And especially in his case.

But how scary to regain consciousness to find some guy standing over you saying "I was Michael Jackson's doctor!"

I think I would faint all over again.

Considering what happened to Michael telling the woman that showed an astonishing lack of bedside manner. At least he didn't ask her if she wanted his autograph.
