Andrew Morton’s Angelina Jolie book gets cover, release date

Over the past year, we’ve been hearing bits and pieces about the unauthorized biography British journalist Andrew Morton is writing about Angelina Jolie (called Angelina). Previously, Morton has written biographies on Princess Diana, Tom Cruise and Madonna. He actually has the heart of journalist, and he seems to actually try to do quality interviews and get genuine sourcing on everything. So no matter what, the book will probably have more truth about Angelina than slime bucket Ian Halperin’s piece of sh-t “tell-all”. Anyway, Morton’s book just got a release date, and he just released the cover to People Mag:

It could be anyone pictured on the cover of Andrew Morton’s latest celebrity tell-all, Angelina: An Unauthorized Biography, save for the trademark “know your rights” tattoo across Angelina Jolie’s back.
A first look at the jacket of the controversial new book shows Jolie, 34, photographed from behind – with only the back of her head and upper torso visible. It’s a fitting perspective since the biography was done without her approval.
The tome, published by St. Martin’s Press, is due out Aug. 3. Will you add it to your summer reading list?

I hate to admit it, but I will read Morton’s book. I like his writing style, he’s got a nice balance between true journalistic fact-checking and tabloid sensationalism. Previously, in interview Morton has expressed his desire to find out more about Angelina in the post-Jonny Lee Miller, pre-Billy Bob Thornton phase of her life, and said that his goal in writing the book was: “I want to separate the truth from all the fiction and all the hype that follows Angelina everywhere,” he tells Star. “I’d love to sit down with her, and I’ve made an approach asking her to cooperate on the book.”

Meh. I remember how I much I looked forward to his Tom Cruise biography only to find out there was nothing scandalous in it. I know he won't have to fear a murder-staged-as-suicide here, but I still doubt he'll have anything new or juicy to report.

I agree, he lost all credibility with the fluff Cruise bio. So I won't hold my breath on this one.

Also agree if People is promo'ing it, they do so with Angie's blessing so the book will document her heroic triumph over bad-daddy and her wittle kind heart.

I didn't buy Halprin's and I won't buy his. i'll read all the excerpts here.

Eh, I rarely read bios authorized or supposedly unauthorized. They're usually fluff pieces. And with celebs today you can get all their "news" in the press. The only interesting bios, IMO, are the one's of old-time Hollywood stars since they controlled so much of their image, no one knew much about them at the time. Unlike now where everyone is such an attention whore. What could he possible have to say about AJ that hasn't already been discussed? Boring.
