Valerie Bertinelli’s Next Goal: “To Run the Boston Marathon”

    Goff/INF
When Valerie Bertnelli joined Jenny Craig in March 2007, she had one goal in mind: lose 40 pounds. Not only did she shed the weight, she showed off her svelte new body in a bikini on the cover of PEOPLE magazine! Since then, the actress has written two books and released a fitness DVD.

    So what’s left?
“For me, my 2010 goal, believe it or not, is to run the Boston marathon, four days before I turn 50!” says Bertinelli, who revealed her plan during a Jenny Craig press conference in Los Angeles on Wednesday. Last year Valerie reached a previous goal of completing a half-marathon, but she’s still feeling the jitters when it comes to crossing the finish line at 26.2 miles. “I’m a little nervous. I’m a little excited. Just keep your fingers crossed and wish me luck,” said the actress, who was quick to offer encouragement to her fellow Jenny Craig spokespeople. “I wanted to take this opportunity to say to the gorgeous Sara Rue, congratulations. Girl, you go! I’m so very proud of you. And Jason [Alexander], Dude. I so knew you could do this and congrats to you too. And congrats for starting the new year off right.”

it's cool that she's creating goals for herself. but i'm sick of hearing about her weight loss. i read her book, and every other sentence in it, was about her weight.

I'd rather read about hot sex with Eddie Van Halen.
Well, the whore apples sure didn't fall far from the whore tree. Sylkyn

You mean Kool Aid's way isn't the real way???!! But... but... I thought ALL the best marathon runners did it bra-less and invisible until the last mile and went out in heels the same night! Sweet Xenu, have I been lied to?

Depends on who you believe. I said here I didn't believe for a second she ran the whole race. Then a lovely poster ranted at me and called me names. She also told me I had no idea what I was talking about (nevermind the fact that I've actually run marathons).

Oh! And don't forget the thong.

i hope you don't mean me. i semi-defended katie for a while, but i don't think i called you or any other poster names. of course now i see the light and don't really believe that she ran the marathon.

I don't think Valerie would ever do it the Katie-bot way.

Good for her! I hope she does run. I will cheer her on.

    I like her.

people can rant at me all day long and I still will never believe she ran the marathon, or Tom's Suri's father, or her marriage is for real or that she isn't some dumb ass for hooking up with Tom Cruise to begin with.

    *****

I like Valerie Bertinelli, she comes across as real. She was on Ellen (OK I know I keep quoting the show but heck I only watch 2 shows right now) and when asked how she and Eddie stayed friends she said "love your child more than you hate your ex" in other words get a long for the sake of the child.

OMG that was it!!! I couldn't remember what she called me. Kisses to you for making my day complete Laurent.

There is no way in hell she ran that full race. No one can run 26.2 without a jog bra, with a thong, and go out that night in heels. No one. Not even Xenu.

You have to meet a qualifying time to enter the Boston Marathon, so she'd have to be a pretty serious competitor to even be allowed to participate. That said, I hope she qualifies and runs. I'm hoping to do the same for my 51st.
    Things fall apart. It's scientific.
