Boyzone star Stephen Gately has died suddenly while on holiday in Majorca, the News of the World has reported.
The 33-year-old went to sleep after a night out but failed to wake up, according to the Boyzone-star-Stephen-Gately-dies.html" target="_blank">newspaper.
The four remaining band members are believed to be planning to fly out to the island and singer Ronan Keating is said to be "completey devastated".
Gately leaves a husband Andrew Cowles, whom he married in a civil union in March, 2006.
The gay singer's coming out 10 years ago caused a sensation in the pop music world.
Dan Wootton, showbiz editor of the News of the World, says it is a tragic and "very unexpected" event.
He said he had spoken to Boyzone manager Louis Walsh, who told him: "I'm in complete shock. I was only with him on Monday at an awards ceremony. We don't know much about what's happened yet.

Wonder how many more celebrity deaths there are going to be before the end of this year?

It's so sad... Back in the Boyzone days, I was totally in love with this Irish cutie!!
I just can't believe it has anything to do with drugs, but then, what do we really know about the celebs?
He'll be missed...

totally random!! Was never a fan but it's sad. I wonder what happened/was taken?
I love this quote from the BBC website...unintentionally funny to me..

Music journalist Paul Gambaccini said: "He's a performer with the word 'boy' in his professional title and boys aren't supposed to die.

Uh, no, boys DO die!

An undetected heart problem? Drugs? Could be a few things.
Rondette - lol @ Paul Gambaccini's comment. How silly.

One of my exes died in his sleep. He was only 26. No chemicals involved. Sometimes bad stuff just happens. (Oversimplification much?)

Sudden Adult Death Syndrome?
I knew a guy (well he was only about 20) who randomly died in his sleep. They still don't know what caused it.
