Lily Allen: 'Why I'm not ashamed of taking drugs (and why I'll have sex with boys my own age but only go out with older men)'
Lily Allen has been known to fall out of a club or two in her time.
But the 24-year-old insists she is not ashamed of her partying ways.

Lily says she she doesn't think she is responsible for her negative image in the press, which she describes as 'unjust'.

No shame: Lily Allen, pictured today at Bestival in the Isle of Wight, says she finds taking drugs 'fun'

The Not fair singer told GQ magazine: 'I think the way I behave is normal for someone my age and in my situation.
'I know a lot of guys in bands who go to awards ceremonies and get into the same sort of states that I get myself into, and that's not negatively reported on. So it feels kind of unjust.'
Lily also said she is not ashamed of taking drugs.
She added: 'I think as long as you're not being malicious and you're not hurting people then you should not be ashamed of what you do.

'I've taken drugs. I found them and find them fun and I don’t think I’m a bad person because of it.'

Talking about the lyrics to her song Not Fair, she said she didn't care if men felt intimidated by her.

Lily shared a kiss with Virgins band member Wade Oates, but has since said she wouldn't date a man her own age

'Historically, women are meant to sit there and look pretty and do what they’re told.
'I suppose we’re still seeing the dribbles of that tradition.'
Lily also talked about the difficulty of finding a suitable partner.
She said: 'I want to be looked after and I also want to be with someone who is not intimidated by me and what I do. That's quite difficult to find. That person would have to be quite successful and powerful. I'd like him to be proud of me but not impressed.'
Lily spoke about her well-known penchant for older men: 'I wouldn't go out with anyone my age. I have sex with people my age but I wouldn't go out with them. There needs to be an intellectual connection and I don't think I've ever had that with people my age.
'I'm not saying I'm cleverer than them, but I don't think many people are really interested in the same sort of things I'm interested in.

'Sometimes, with young guys, I lie there and think: "Did you just say that?" I can't believe it! So juvenille.'
Lily also admits that she prefers male company to female friends, because she enjoys feeling she is the centre of their world.
She said: 'It probably sounds bitchy but I like being on tour because I know all my boys, my band, first hand foremost their priority is looking out for me and I like that.
'I like being in a room and four f***ing bimbos coming in and they’re all drooling after them – but I know that, really, the one they care about is me. That makes me feel comforted.
'And maybe that's sick, But I like having the respect of men as well. There's nothing I would hate more than walking into a room and for guys to see me as a sex object. I'm just not interested in that.'

She's trying too hard to look like GaGa in the 1st pics, only she doesn't have the body to pull it off (not that any og the crap GaGa wears looks good anyway).

Well, I can't stand this girl nor her "music". She's obviously mentally ill and needs serious help. Being so insecure, self-conscious, needy, clingy, depressive (this is the vibe she always gives off anyway) and turning to drugs when she's at it isn't exactly something to be classified as "normal", let alone a matter to be ignored. I don't feel the least bit sorry either, but why doesn't she just shut up and go seek treatment?

I agree with most of her comments, but haven't people been writing lyrics like hers for decades? She's not exactly breaking down barriers. I keep reading quotes from her about women being expected to sit and look pretty and they seem kind of dated. And didn't she used to be a big girl? Didn't she have a clothing line of bigger sizes? What happened to that?

I like it that she's open about drug use, and I do think there are all kinds of double standards for men versus women in the music world.

But man, she sounds so immature and conceited about needing an intellectual equal and someone who won't be "impressed" by her. Very off-putting, really.

I'm kind of shocked she admitted to those last comments. No wonder she prefers male company, she can't stand any other females getting attention!

She was only ever about a size 12 or 14 UK, the clothing line came out in New Look which is pretty cheap and disposable. Whatever genius thought that they should release her line the same week as Kate Moss's TopShop line should honestly be shot and fed to the rabid sheep.

She became Kate Moss's BFF. Pretty pathetic.
