Robert Pattinson reveals he 'felt like a bit of an idiot' at 'Twilight' audition
Robert Pattinson reveals he 'felt like a bit of an idiot' at 'Twilight' audition
The hunky Londoner says he was put off auditioning for the role of Edward Cullen in Twilight after he learned the character was impossibly handsome. "Going in for the audition, I felt like a bit of an idiot," says Rob who was perched on the Alice In Wonderland bronze sculpture this week to film scenes for Remember Me

01 JULY 2009 He frequently tops 'world's most sexiest man' lists, but Robert Pattinson has a surprising confession for his female fans.
The star, this week spotted filming new project Remember Me in New York's Central Park, has said he had reservations about auditioning for the part of Edward Cullen in the vampire romance flick after learning the character was meant to be impossibly handsome.
"Going in for the audition, I felt like a bit of an idiot," admits the 23-year-old, who said he stared and stared at himself in the mirror in doubt before leaving the house for the casting. "I just thought even having the gall to go in means you're a bit… arrogant."
The handsome actor's overcame his reservations and went on to win the part, becoming a big hit with female followers – something which was evident recently when he was mobbed in the Big Apple.
Poor Rob ended up getting clipped by a taxi when he tried to escape the hordes of screaming fans. Luckily he wasn't seriously hurt though, and soon resumed filming his new project with Lost beauty Emilie de Ravin.
In the film the pair play lovers whose newfound romance is put under strain as they're both faced with tragedy in their respective families.

Pretty much.
Bet he feels like an even bigger idiot actually being IN the movies!
But, he's just thinking about all that dough.

He actually doesn't like the books. Whenever he's asked his opinion of them, he always has something negative to say.

That's because the books were written by a mentally incompetent mormon twat for brain damaged 9 year olds.

FELT like an idiot? More like IS an idiot. This piece of crap probably walks outside in public just so girls can swoon and beg him for their attention. He needs to get over himself. He's lucky Twilight even gave him a chance. If it wasn't for Harry Potter, he'd be named Dirk, dressed in a crotchless cowboy outfit, and servicing men in bath houses.

I love you!
And yes, thank god someone else sees that stupid mormon woman for what she is.
Jesus, you'd think Stephanie Meyer was the second coming or something by the freakin' phenomenon following of her ridiculous writing.
Yeah right!
I was so happy when Stephen King said she couldn't write!
I wanted to slit my wrists after forcing myself to read the first two books.
It was torture and how I managed to complete them both I'll never know.
They're GARBAGE.
And what I find even sadder than the tweenies reading the Twilight saga are the soccer moms or the older women who read and enjoy them!
I mean, PUH-LEEZE!
How about cuddling up with a nice Nora Roberts book? or Danielle Steel perhaps?

He has the same problem that DiCaprio had at his age. If he's any good he could have something like DiCaprio's career. I don't think he's handsome, he lookes like a moron and as for the Twilight books, you'd have to pay me to read them. Blech!

he's the only decent actor IN twilight- i suffered through that movie ONCE, and i will not watch it again... it wasn't really the acting so much as the script, and the director that should have stuck to cold case/law and order... the books were good but nothing brilliant. and those quoting king...you must also remember he thinks that j.k. rowling is a brilliant writer...(saying a popular writer sucks just gets you more attention, mr. king...)

while neither stephen king nor j.k. rowling are what you could call high literature, they are way, way better than that semi-illiterate mor(m)on who wrote twilight. i mean, really, even if you're a hopeless romantic and like sappy stories, you have to admit the writing sucks ass, she has no imagination and has contributed absolutely nothing to the genre except to make teenage girls even more hysterical, love-sick and pathetic.
jk rowling created an entire parallel world, her characters actually have personalities and the whole thing is overflowing with imagination and creativity that both children and adults can enjoy. sure, it's not shakespeare and she'll never win a pulitzer but she's still a damn good writer.

I particularly liked the interview where he said he found the whole Edward thing a bit weird, that Meyer had created this character that she saw as the perfect guy and was totally in love with him... and then she met the guy who was playing her darling Edward in the film and he just tried to not show how freaked out he was.
Ah, Twilight. It brings the LULz

Definitely.
Here's the quote you were taking about Sassi:
“When I read it I was convinced Stephenie was convinced she was Bella and it was like it was a book that wasn’t supposed to be published. It was like reading her sexual fantasy, especially when she said it was based on a dream and it was like, ‘Oh I’ve had this dream about this really sexy guy,’ and she just writes this book about it. Like some things about Edward are so specific, I was just convinced, like, ‘This woman is mad. She’s completely mad and she’s in love with her own fictional creation.’ And sometimes you would feel uncomfortable reading this thing.
Also, got to love this! SO true!
"When you read the book, it's like 'Edward Cullen is so beautiful I creamed myself.' I mean every line is like that. He's the most ridiculous person who's so amazing at everything. I think a lot of actors tried to play that aspect. I just couldn't do that. And the more I read the script, the more I hated the guy, so that's how I played him, as a manic-depressive who hates himself. Plus, he's a 108-year old virgin so he obviously has some issues here."

I don't like Kristen Stewart but I do get a kick out of the 'anti-twilight' spews that come out of her mouth every once in awhile.
Like these:
“I was like, ‘You guys are celebrating something that has not come true yet. So, you are really retarded and have nothing to do with this creative process and I really don’t want to hear you celebrate in front of me. Get out of here! It’s my responsibility!’”
“You can go online and it’s very intangible. I mean, who knows how many of these girls there are? It’s probably just the same five girls going on every message board and gabbing on about it,” Stewart says. “But to have literally, like, a room of over 5,000 people screaming at you makes you want to cry. It’s not like, ‘Oh, this is so great.’ I think it’s literally like an instinct. To have that sort of energy forced at you? You start to wither.”

Hell, if I were making bank like them I'd find a way to play the role too, no matter how ridiculous!
